Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

Can you do this with different Apple ID on old phone vs new phone?
I'm pretty sure the Apple ID has to be identical between the two to do a transfer.

When you trade the phone in store, what is the best way to transfer the data to the new phone? do you backup to Itune first? or transfer data to new phone at the store? or both?
Call me old fashioned but I would make a full backup to iTunes as a fail safe in case shit happens.

And then do the transfer at the store. If it fails at least you have a good backup on iTunes.

Do I need to have IMEI number that I am going to trade in upfront in store and it needs to match to the phone that needs to be shipped? I am just planning to buy a one locally. I am sure store guys just checks the phone and hand you a shipping label to ship it unless it is changed and they are keeping the trade in phones. Once you ship the phone they checks the phone condition and process credit.

Does it work just as smooth if you are not getting the base iphone 12? Do you pay the difference upfront or it will be financed?

Anyone seeing this in their Sprint accounts? Do you need to trade in the phone with the same IMEI that you enter or can it be switched later?

I thought they take your phone for in-store trade in? if they make you to ship the phone, you might as well do it online and skip the $20 fee.

So basically NO new line required, right? Just a straight upgrade?

Do you have a qualifying phone on your account? I don't, and when I went through the upgrade process it asked if I wanted to trade in, I said yes, and at checkout it showed only half off (I assume because I have a 6s on the account) but it didn't ask me for phone info to trade in so I guess it has to be the one on the line already?

To answer some questions, yes, just straight upgrade. No new line required. Depending on your upgrade (ie. Iphone 8 or above) you get $830 off over 24 months or approx $34.58 per month off the monthly price of the phone you select

yes it requires an eligible phone to be already activated on the line

Urgh... what a pain in the ass! Can the store do it without the phone on the account? If not, I guess I'll have to go in store, get the sim from the 12 (as the 6s one isn't compatible right?) pop it in, put that phone on the line, trade it in, then switch the sim to the 12.
