What's the catch? No new line or port-in required? Just a simple upgrade?

yes it requires an eligible phone to be already activated on the line
i don't think this is true. The phone you are trading in does not have to be already on your line.

Cheapest plan is $60 a month. I'm shocked people actually pay that much, especially when you can get something like Mint for $15 - $25 a month.

totodiledid they change the deal? Now it requires a new line?
I think before it only required eligible lines. now when you look at the deal on their webpage it says it requires to activate a new line...

Urgh... what a pain in the ass! Can the store do it without the phone on the account? If not, I guess I'll have to go in store, get the sim from the 12 (as the 6s one isn't compatible right?) pop it in, put that phone on the line, trade it in, then switch the sim to the 12.
I don't think he is correct. Have you tried?

I went through the process on Sprint and it isn't asking me what I want to trade in. It just asks IF I want to trade in so I said yes and it only takes half off, I assume because the 6s is on my account and that is what it expects me to trade in? I've never done a trade in before so I have no clue how it works.

Just placed my order. Trade-in page showed original trade-in value of the phone, but checkout page shows the full value of the offer. No add-a-line or port required.

Sorry for asking this silly question.... if I'm trading in a very good condition IPhone 8 64gb with no cracked screens and functions normally, will I get $830 in 24 months bill credits when I buy an iPhone 12 Max Pro? Or the amount I can get for this trade in won't be $830, but something much less? Can someone confirm this? Thanks! šŸ™‚
I was told by the rep on the phone today that when i pay off and then trade in my S20FE, I will get a $330 credit, which is the trade in value of the phone, which can be applied to the down payment of the iphone 12 Pro Max 256, which is a $200 down payment. I am not sure where the other $130 goes for sure. Then, she said to make up the difference to the $830 promo, I would get $500 in bill credits on the line for 24 months. Since I already have a promo for porting in, that credit will stay, but move to the account level, instead of being on the associated line. She said my current $90 Magenta Max 55+ bill would be $74 per month for the next 16 months, and then go back to the $90.
I have to pay off $497 on each phone, and then get $330 each back in trade in, an my $29.17 credit for each will continue at account level for 16 months. So, I'm ahead here $299.72 per line. Which doesn't make sense since the free S20 FE was only $699 and they are giving me $830 which is only a difference of $131 per line. Then, I get $20.83 credit per line for 24 months as the balance of the new promotion. Payments on each iPhone will be $41.67 per month. Total bill should be $73.34 per month. After 16 months, the bill will go up by $58.34 when that S20 credit runs out, for 8 months, until the Iphones are then paid off.
It seems very confusing, and overall will end up costing me $3 to $4 per month on average to go from the S20 FE to iPhone. I know there will be the upfront costs, but it seems they will be covered by the device trade in... $330 x2 = $660, less down payments of $100 & $200 and hopefully can cover the taxes of about $200 total, leaving about $100+
I guess we will see how it goes at my appointment in the morning.
Now, back to copying files off these Samsungs!

I think he's referring to the fact that on the page for the "Mom" deal, currently it does say new line is required...

iPhone 12.
Now in purple.
Perfect for Mom. On us.

How to get this offer:
1. Activate a new line of service on an eligible plan.
2. Purchase a new iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, or iPhone 12 mini on a monthly payment plan and pay applicable sales tax on pre-credit price at time of purchase.
3. Trade in an eligible device in good condition:

But the full terms page doesn't mention a new line. Hopefully just a small discrepancy they'll fix soon.
