Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose

Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.

For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

I was able to find used iPhone 8 6 months ago for $100. Now with the trade in deals they're all $200+ locally.

alright just spoke with tmobile rep. not sure who is correct but tmobile rep said i would lose the remaining credits on my account. Its only $60 left so I dont care if i lose it since $830 is way more value that I would get for my iphone XS. But like others have said, if I continue getting the credits then thats just cherry on top.

I just went to the store so I could get the phone for my wife for mother's day. Biggest mistake of my life. They were awful. I had to teach them everything including helping a customer that had questions they couldn't answer. I was in the store for 2 hours... Never again.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but I'm in the process of checking out and I notice "Due monthly after promotion $3.29". What's the extra $3.29 for?

This is not entirely true in my experience doing EIP. Yes, tax on the full price of the phone is immediately payable. Everything else is factored into the EIP and NOT immediately payable.

For example, say I buy the 128gb iPhone Pro for $999.99 per this promo. I must pay tax immediately on $999.99. Also, shipping and assist fees if not waived. Then the EIP is set up for $999.99 / 24 months. That is $41.67 per month.

Next, the promo credit is factored into it. In this case, it is max of $830. Say that I trade in my iPhone 8. The device valuation is $100 (for example). That $100 gets applied to my account within two bill cycles once my trade is approved.

So now my credits remaining are down to $730, which divided by 24 months is $30.42. So every month for 24 months, T-Mobile will bill me $11.25 ($41.67-$30.42) to pay off the device in full.
True but try getting 256 iPhone 12 Pro and you will pay the difference upfront. I was referring to base model iPhone 12 which is 830 so if you get 128g. iPhone 12 you pay 50 in difference upfront.

Traded in Samsung S9 in store for this deal, the Rep inspected and enter the IMEI for the trade in. Pleasant, quick experience. Was out of there in 10 mins.

I don't know what to tell you, but some TMO rep was clueless. For instance, I had an EIP for my Note 10+ which I paid $20 per month. I had 8 payments left and it should be $160, but my account showed that I had 9 payments remaining with the last payment being $5.45; however, the balance still showed that I owed $160. I asked the rep about it and they just read it straight out from my account. I told them "have you check the math" and they came back said "you're right" and couldn't figure it out and wanted to submit the investigation. I said forget it and just paid it off.

Wow! Shows 199 online and that's what my store had, too. Lucky you, I guess?
At least you got 1 lol. Ours showed 190, 200, 210 so i asked for the cheap ones. Box said B grade iPhone 8 64GB. Maybe A grade was 200? These were pretty damn clean.

I'm reading the exact page you mention but I don't see it the way you do:
Seems you lose credit if you upgrade again (jump)

Losing promotional credits

We want you to take full advantage of our promotional credit. So, please keep in mind the following, which will disqualify you from continuing to receive promotional credits:

Exchanging or returning a device outside of the offer window, where the qualifying EIP is closed
Canceling or changing the plan or service that is required for a credit promotion
Not signing your E-signature or completing the EIP during the promotional period
Performing a JUMP! upgrade to a new device from a device with a credit
Returning one phone purchased as a BOGO (buy one, get one) offer (BOGO promotions require that you keep both phones and qualifying service)
JUMP is a special grandfathered upgrade program that has nothing to do with this.

Has anybody gone to a store and do the trade in? I think they screw up the promotion on my line.

Did you pay anything up front?
TAXon the full phone value. $20 Activation depending on your store.

Your phones TIV may cover it depending on what you trade.
