Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose

Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.

For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):
https://share.getcloudapp.com/GGuQ99y0

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

I made the trade on T-Mobile site for a 8 plus. On the checkout process it was quoted 830 but on the return shipping label it is offer price at 113? Is this expected?

You don't get a confirmation of which promo you are getting when you buy online. I've done offers both online and in store. As long as you meet the terms of the offer code, you should be good regardless of where you buy. The stickler comes in with a promo like this, where there is 2 offers that sort of match and reps are finding the offer with the 'add a line' vs this one where no new line is required.
That's my point. I wish they had better promo and rebates processes. I followed all the steps accurately and send my trade-in; and after 3 months I was told that I never qualified for the promo (It was not like there were issues my trade-in device.). This was even after I triple-checked with their customer service reps & TForce before & after placing my order Frown

Why can't they definitively confirm if I am eligible for a promo or not - before I place the order? After being a happy T-mobile customer for ~10 years, this experience soured my experience very badly (and caused me to lose over $1000).

I think technically immediately, but I personally have waited a day or two in the past.
Be careful to check your monthly bill every months. T-mobile billing system sucks. They charged me wrong amount most of the time. I had to call them to adjust the bill almost every month. Now you have new credit on top of old credit. That would be a lot messier.

All my five lines have amounts due and monthly credit attached. I can just pay off online so it's no longer on EIP and then do this deal. How quickly after I pay off the balances before I can order new phones to get new credit for EIP?

Thank you very much SD community for all the helpful comments and tips. I was about to do this online on T-mobile website and read a comment about Costco doing it with $30 Costco cash card, went with that option.
Will be trading in two XRs for $159 each and ordered two 12s at Costco Wiresless kiosk. Got trade in shipping labels, shipping envelopes and paperwork.
No shipping charges when ordered from Costco. Activation fees waived off.

All done in about 30 min.

T-mobile account history correctly says-$27.96 credit for 24 months for each line.
(27.96x24=671.04
+159 XR trade in value
=$830

Thanks. Happy Mother's Day!
Congrats! If the sales tax rate is different between your Costco and your shipping address, please let me know which sales tax they applied to to your order. Thank you!

Damn thanks. Do they do credit pull as well?
No. Credit is pulled only when you open a T-Mobile account the first time. But based on that you get an internal EIP credit limit which can affect down payments and the amount of EIP orders you may be able to place online without calling CSR.

They will give you $830 but charge you $113. That means you will get back 813 - 113 = 717. The 813 will be credited within 24 months, and the 113 will be charged several days after you receive the new phone.

I was able to trade in an S10 for an iPhone 12 Pro over chat. The representative waived $20 activation fee and $24.99 next day shipping. However, in the trade-in email, I see an estimate of $160 instead of $830. Representative mentioned this amount would be up to $830 once they receive the device and inspect. Does that sound right? Do I need to check with T-Mobile again to get this estimate corrected? I have the chat message saved just in case.
