Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

You are unlucky. I just came back from a store. They accepted my cracked back XR. That's the only reason I eat $20 assisting fee. After they accept it, I don't have to worry about Assurance inspection. I would suggest finding another store in your area. Good luck.
I hate to break the news to you but the store employee accepting it is irrelevant because they are not the ones who determine the status of your phone.

Hi, sorry if these are stupid questions:

Do they take the phone you're trading in upfront? They give you confirmation/tracking for that? I was reading a review of someone who gave them their phone and then never got the credits for it b/c it got lost or something.

Also, if you're not a Costco member, can you still use those cash cards?

I did it through Costco.

Purchased 2x iphone 8 from nearby phone seller for $360.
Tax with costco in NYC = $150 for both iphone 12's.

Total = $510 but I am going to sell the two iPhone XR's that I am currently using so I should be pocketing around $30-40 after selling the iPhone XR's. Only purchased the iPhone 8's because they were are cheaper than the XR's. Also, Costco has a $30 cash card for every phone you buy so I am getting $60 for both phones.

But as far as I know Costco does not have trade in promotion with EIP ( monthly bill credit) . they usually offer prepaid card ( $830 in this case)

So you just went to Boost Mobile store, picked up the refurbished iPhone 8 for $150 without signing up for plan? Then trade that in with Tmobile for the $830 credit?
Yeah, did you activate it? My guy said it had to be activated but I didn't care as everyone said that didn't matter (at least for T-Mobile). Sprint apparently will only accept a Sprint phone as trade according to the 5 reps I've spoken to thus far.

those are not stupid questions at all!

1) No, you have to mail the phone. You don't actually even need to bring your phone (it does help). If you have the IMEI and model of your phone, just tell them it and they will submit it in the computer. You only mail the phone AFTER you receive the phone (assuming you are having it shipped). If you are buying it in-store and they have it in stock, you can ship it whenever you want.

2) confirmation/tracking is from the USPS. You have to mail the package yourself. you will receive a prepaid shipping label, put your phone in, and ask for a receipt from USPS. Tracking confirmation is provided. If the phone gets lost, I don't know what can be done other than to contact Tmobile.

3) You can't do it via Costco if you're not a costco member. First thing they ask is if you're a costco member. If you want, you can just sign up for a costco membership and then cancel it after you use your cash cards (which take 12 weeks max) but it's up to you. I don't condone it.

nope, it's EIP through Costco. I think it has been for many of these deals. The prepaid cards are very rare.

Store trade-in acceptance is actually final. The credits get applied immediately and are not reversable.
If Assurant doesn't accept the phone, the store gets in trouble not the customer.

I was having the same issue when I went to check out where it looked like T-Mobile was charging me $100 over what they should have. I talked to an excellent CSR who explained that the online system doesn't show the credit you receive when your trade-in is shipped and verified. In my case, my extra down payment of $100 will be credited back when they get my trade-in. This is outside the credit you get after 2 billing cycles that is listed on the checkout page.

I had a trade in phone rejected a few years back that the store had accepted. It matters not what the store tells you. Even if it gets damaged in shipping (which happened to a few people on old deals and threads) your phone will get denied as a valid trade in.

Seems sketchy to not list that extra credit anywhere. As the discount only says you get the $830 with the trade in and not more.

Off topic, so feel free to keep scrolling, but people here seem pretty knowledgeable......when it comes to protection for your iPhone, do you use 360 or pay for AppleCare separately? Seems like AppleCare is slightly cheaper and would have lower deductibles?
