Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose

Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.

For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

IMO, it all varies - Trading in a T-mobile branded version will generate a dollar amount almost all the time. However, trading in an unlocked version or a different carrier version can be $0 or a small amount of credit.

So its not always the same case for everyone.
Would the values differ between their website and store though?

No, the EIP credits will be applied to the account rather the line. so you don't lose the credits.
Its the same as you paying it off yourself and trading it in. The credits continue for the 24 month period.
So just to be clear, i can sell this iPhone 12 i just got today on bill credits without it negatively affecting me?

NP. Also benefit of paying it off is unlocking it and getting a better resell value. But then it means it has to be opened and used on the network.
Does it have to be opened and used? I paid off an EIP for a nord n10 so I could get this deal. I haven't opened it yet, but on my account history, it said device unlocked. I didnt even ask for the nord to be unlocked.

From my experience, once you pay off a phone, the system auto generates an "unlock" request. However, you have to physically go into your phone to do this (Android) - for iPhones, its done on the back end and can be verified in the About page.

I paid off my Samsung S20FE today and it said the same in my account history but i had to manually do it on the phone. - there wasnt a device unlock app so i searched it was a feature under connections > more connections > network unlock. You can select perm or temp unlock from there. I think you may need to do the same with the Nord.

Yes. But you should pay if off first. I would also wait 2 billing cycles before doing it to avoid any issues from Tmo.

No, i think it would be the same. But i thought you were comparing to others who mentioned $65 upfront credit. My brother did an s9 trade in as well and he got $75 offer. I know someone else that got $0. I think its all model dependent, in particular carrier.

I picked up three iPhone 12 Pro Max.

First Phone Trade in: Went on Offerup, purchased a Galaxy S9 for 150 bucks (so long as paid, not blacklisted, and no crack screens, you get the full 830 credit).

Walked into to store, turned trade-in phone in, was given a 65 credit for the actual trade in phone (later deducted from the 830 trade-in value). Paid the tax, charger, came out paying a bit over 100 bucks.

Second phone Trade In: Went on offerup, purchased an iPhone 8 for 150 bucks. Made sure it is paid, not blacklisted, no cracked screen. Got the full 830 Credit.

Walked into store, was give 75 dollar credit for phone (later deducted from the 830 total credit), but this time I had to spend close to 200+. Why? The first phone, the store rep screwed up and gave me an iPhone 12 Pro, instead of an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Went back to store, they couldn't fix it so they requested I go back tomorrow to "fix" issue so I can get the Pro Max.

Third Phone Trade In: This deal was soo good, I decided to upgrade Mom's phone. This time, I called T-Mobile, provided them info for her Note 9. Credit to be given will be 830. This time, I had to pay a bit above 300, because I had reached my "credit limit" This was actually a good thing, as I was being allowed to pay down more money so my monthly payment would be lower than the first two phones. Eventually, it turned out that this third phone I would only pay out about 4 dollars a month for 2 years.

How much time do I have to sign the "device agreement" in the email before it expires? It only mention "If we don't receive your electronic signature soon, unfortunately your order will be canceled."

I got the iPhone 12 pro max after iPhone 8 trade in and had to pay 231.99 but they said i would only pay an extra 4 or 8 bucks a month
