I'm not sure how you can reliably smoke food without alarms.
1. Hopefully better range than BT
2. I like seeing all 4 temps at once instead of auto scroll with BT model
3. The color coded probes are very helpful.
Edit: I was thinking, if I wipe an old backup phone of all its data and just put this app on it, they wouldn't get much information out of me, correct?
i feel like the 60-70 year olds in this thread need to put down the keyboards and stop giving tech advice.
USB charging is nice and goes with my phone charing.
I test boiling water, so it seems accurate.
I been using on steak, salmon on stove and other dishes in stove.
The alarm goes off on phone and device when it reaches the temperature.
WiFi means I can go to different room and wait for alarm to go off.

As with all of my "smart" devices that don't need LAN access, it is setup on my vlan guest network.
I've had mine for a few months and it has worked perfectly for multiple smokes. I checked the probes to boiling water and only had to adjust one by a couple degrees.

i asked my co-worker across the hall, and he said iphones offer the same amount of control. whether or not the app asks for said permissions to start though, idk. but either way, you can certainly turn off said permissions if you are afraid of the big bad china stealing your information.
i think mine is about 1 year old and every probe measures 212 when in boiling water, and they all climb at the same rate...

ive had this app running for about a year and never had a failed alarm.
thats the downside to reviews on the google play store. most people dont know what they are doing.
