This bogo, buy one get one, deal is available for all the bare 18 volt, and 12 volt tools. Soon the profactor tools will also be included I think. the freebie is the starter kit, with charger and battery.

Any pro suggest which one? DEWALT 20-Volt MAX XR or this one?
DEWALT XR has $99 on sale often; Bosch has $149.
Does Starlock worth $50?

The one you already have batteries for is pretty much always the answer.

Have a ton of bosch since i've been buying all these lowes bosch deals...this one though may not go in the toolbox , this unit will limit you to just starlock blades so if you're hacking on crap keep that in mind. There is a company oslo that makes an adaptor for universal blades but you'll be looking at 40 bucks (can't find another company that makes em).

Think he's saying you don't want to start multiple lines of tools if you can help it. Either stick with Bosch 18v tools or Dewalt 20V. If you have neither yet, matters a lot less.

Keep in mind... DeWalt 20v is actually identical to Bosch 18v (in terms of actual voltage). Marketing....

I bought two of them for comparison:
1. Weight(body only): Bosch (1229g), Dewalt(1037.5g)
2. Dewalt can apply a universal accessory adapter (default included) to connect a star-lock cutter.
For DIY or wants to save $$, would recommend the Dewalt.

I have four OMT tools from different brands including Bosch. Bosch cuts the fastest. Starlock is good.
I have over 60 OIS blades bought over the years that cannot be used with the Bosch however. There are three OIS to Starlock adapters available, all made by folks in their garages. I bought one for $45 plus shipping. Worked kind of for about five cuts. No good. The Starlock has a 3d interface designed to allow higher power transfer between the tool and the blade, using an OIS adapter made the adapter the weakest link. At any power higher then 4 on the dial the blade will loosen suddenly and the OIS adapter becomes worn even though it was made of steel. I threw the adapter away. Do not use those adapters, good idea and may be only feasible for low speed sanding. Aggressive cutting with an adapter is not going to end well.
