Anyone know what happens if you forgot about the 12 months expiration and now I have 60 days to reactivate .. Customer service said I would get my minutes and data back and the phone would be unlockable . Looks like $15 is the cheapest to get this done . Is the above true ?

You do need to make some calls or texts, TF has been known to cancel line for non-use. Might be helpful to read FAQ on their website to understand how Tracfone works.

Only have 30 day return, but you can wait 2 months to activate if you want.
