How exactly is an 8 core 16 thread 4800H a low-end processor?

Hasn't been many 2060 with a Ryzen 7 and 16gb ram for under $1000 recently probably because they're getting discontinued(or soon to be for 3060 and 5000 CPU's). Nothing looks lacking or needing of additional updates.

The fact that you have to wait for at least a few weeks if not more would be my only hesitation.

I owned an EVOO gaming laptop for almost a year. It was fantastic, my only minor complaint was the mechanical keyboard key depth seemed a little shallow. Temps were great; build quality was great.

The article you linked was for super cheap laptops, the kit they used in my EVOO from a year or two ago was a very good Tongfeng chasis with a 9th gen Intel and a 1660TI.

I've had the OP for 2.5 years with zero problems and it runs very cool. It's even been mining for the last 6 months without problems.

Personally, I wouldn't buy an HP ever. They've been crap for me.

As an aside, how did you regulate the temps? I've got one of those laptops too but not sure the best way to power limit the GPU.

EVOO is basically the next Gen OP laptop, made by Tongfang. Solid build for the price.

I don't do anything. The miner runs the GPU at 100% constantly and the average GPU temp is 67C. It is on a cheap cooler though.

Sure it's $1119 at the deal linked below, and you can get it for around $1070 if you have EDU, Perks at Work discount or similar employee purchase discounts.

The HP Omen looks like a great deal. The RAM is easily upgradeable so that's not a deal breaker to me, but I'm torn between the keyboard without a 10-key on the Omen versus the one on the EVOO which does have 10-key...decisions, decisions...

Also, I think the EVOO has a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery. Does this mean that it can "possibly" be powered through USB from a portable power bank? Hmm...

RAM is cheap and easy to upgrade on a gaming rig. $40 will get you up to 16, and you can bump up to 32 for around $100 if you wait for a deal (though few people need that much yet).

I just got an Asus Zephyrus G15 with the 3070 in it. I was dual wielding a MacBook and gaming laptop so I decided it was time to get something that could game well and be very portable for work use, and I didn't particularly need OSX, just long battery life and portability that was still powerful. So far so good. I was able to sell my EVOO for almost what I paid for it.

Evoo is the house brand for walmart. I'm concerned about the build quality, lifespan, and warranty claims based on an article I found here: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2...-bad-news/ Can anyone comment?
Build quality and thermals are great on mine. If you search for gateway creator series, you should find a couple threads with dozens of pages of posts about a similar model they were selling earlier int he year.

The two gripes I had was 8GB memory and 128(256?)GB SSD, which they seem to have addressed with this model.

They tried to fit a mechanical keyboard into a laptop? Obviously that is going to cause problems. My model has the usual scissor style and it is fine.

My main issue with this is the display: the 120Hz panels on this gen weren't 96+% SRGB, only 144Hz had that. Haven't confirmed though for this model, just a caution
Mine was advertised 120hz but was in fact 144hz. It definitely isn't the best screen though.

No idea if it is the same situation here though.

While a deal.. I will not deny this... these specs were similar in price last August.

I just feel the public are being price gauged by the chip shortage.

That's great . How is the g15 doing so far in terms of battery life and thermals ? And how much did you get it for ?

Although the travel distance is shallow for a mechanical keyboard it is one of the most pleasant keyboards I've tried in a laptop
