How exactly is an 8 core 16 thread 4800H a low-end processor?

Hasn't been many 2060 with a Ryzen 7 and 16gb ram for under $1000 recently probably because they're getting discontinued(or soon to be for 3060 and 5000 CPU's). Nothing looks lacking or needing of additional updates.

The fact that you have to wait for at least a few weeks if not more would be my only hesitation.

I owned an EVOO gaming laptop for almost a year. It was fantastic, my only minor complaint was the mechanical keyboard key depth seemed a little shallow. Temps were great; build quality was great.

The article you linked was for super cheap laptops, the kit they used in my EVOO from a year or two ago was a very good Tongfeng chasis with a 9th gen Intel and a 1660TI.

If I had to say, maybe the omen. But I'm not sure there is a direct comparison because the size of this chassis.

All the "smaller/slimmer" laptops like the g14/g15 I've had cooling issues with. Even though I own this computer (intel processor tho), I just purchased a 3060 g14 and 4 days later it completely died mid game and wouldn't turn on after it overheated.

My Alienware and omen were much larger, but the omen quality was probably the most comparable. Alienware is bit plastiky. Yeah this laptop gets noisy, but it's a tight package and I can run it all the way up without issues.

In summary I guess it's kinda like the omen build quality in the g15 sizing if that makes sense. But the omen chassis was just a bit better.
I am trying too decide between Zephyrus G15 & Strix15 (both 3070 model,$1799.99) Price is the same, but Strix would be a bit more powerful both in terms of CPU and GPU. I am not concerned about the 1lb weight difference, but I think the Mech keys in Strix might be louder considering I work at lot when my wife is asleep 😂. What's your comments on this.

I bought the g15 3070 and returned it.

It's not a terrible laptop, but for the price the amount of bleed on the horizontal and vertical bezels was too drastic for a $1800 computer. I'm not talking about IPS glow, just the pinching. It also doesn't have a mux switch (this makes full use of dgpu with vr etc tricky but not impossible with some work arounds) and not the full tdp 3070. That being said, if size was an absolute must, it may not be a bad choice since it is a nice package. Also the Pantone display is nice if you do gfx work.

All that being said, my experience with the 2060 g14 and most recently with the 3060 g14 have steered me away from Asus. I don't know why, but the devices I keep buying have issues. The 3060 g14 was catastrophic and it killed it. But I've seen plenty of people with good experiences, so maybe I'm unlucky. I don't have any experience with the strix line.

Size is important to me, so that's why I kept going back hoping I'd not get a dud, but it hasn't worked for me. Won't try Asus for a while again.

Edit: Out of curiously, what games do you play?

I only play comp mp games (comparatively low gpu requirements), single player aaa games where 60 FPS is good enough for me (ray tracing is cool, but not not mind blowing IMO and dlss works incredibly well so I can get over 60 FPS with ray tracing and dlss on in cyber punk with high settings at 1080p) and VR at Oculus quest 2 res settings. If using qhd, that's a different story, but I personally don't think there's a massive difference on a 15" display that warrants qhd. If your using an external monitor that's larger, 100% I see the value of qhd.

The 2060 (the refreshed version) ended up working way better than I expected and I have been surprised. It actually outperformed my older 2070 max p (non refreshed).

I'm actually considering selling my plethora of laptops and 3070 desktop because something like this computer will probably do what I need at under half the price. With the 8 core ryzen this comp satisfies my virtualization requirements outside of gaming. But this all specific to my use case and just my opinion on relative value vs my experience.

I'm not saying either Asus are a bad choice. I'm just saying I've had some bad experiences that don't line up with other people's experiences so I'm probably just unlucky. There's a lot to like in the package of the g15, but there are also sacrifices for that form factor.

Edit Edit: I really got long winded there.

I'd say the Lenovo is worth the extra 150.

This is just my preference.
Specs don't matter much if it's going to throttle and cripple the performance.

I had an order for the Dell Alienware M15 Ryzen 5800H and 3060 for $1,2xx out the door after tax, 12% coupon, and 15% cashback but ultimately cancelled it due reviews of overheating and throttling.

From member's experience, this EVOO most likely will suffer from noise and heat issue as well. An 8 core Ryzen 4800h with a 2060 is a lot of heat to handle. With that said, $899 for these type of specs is a solid deal.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Lenovo 5 Pro, expecting a US release soon. Price isn't going to be anywhere near this good but from all the reviews, it's a solid laptop with amazing cooling, essentially allowing it to operate without throttling. It's one of the few laptop that can handle an 8 core Ryzen and a full power Nvidia RTX without choking on heat throttling.
The dell overheats, but it doesn't throttle. Not to mention you can undervolt it.

Mining only generates a lot of heat on the ram. The rest of the gpu stays cool.

Ordered mine yesterday and it came today, in case you were wondering like I was it is an NVMe SSD model IM2P33F8-512GD and 2x 8gb DDR4-3200 by Micron. Probably going to open it up and check out expandability as well. Here is a HWiNFO64 for it: https://imgur.com/a/6vIKiB8
Edit:
Opened mine up and there is a second NVMe slot, memory is Crucial, battery is only 46.74Wh with plenty of room, maybe an upgrade somewhere?

Was there a warranty seal sticker to get to one of the screw holes to open the back panel?

Absolutely, and I completely ignored it as they are illegal in the US.

To clarify, there's nothing "illegal" about warranty stickers in the US, but they're meaningless as a means of attempting to deny warranty claims.

I bought the ~$300 i7 and it worked great up until the point nearly 90 days later that the screen died. I sent it in and was told it would take 2-4 weeks to repair. After 5 weeks, I inquired about the status. They said it couldn't be repaired and watch out for info about a new one that will get sent to me. That was two weeks ago - no word yet.

I ordered one Friday, showed up on Saturday. First game I threw at it was Fallout 4, and I can't get it to run for more than 5 minutes before it crashes. Event log says "nvlddmkm.sys stopped responding" over and over. Gonna try a few more games, but I may have to return it.
