I've had a Surface Duo since it launched last year. It's my daily driver. I love it. But I've also accepted that it's a gen one product, with immature software, and with older internals. There needs to be some tolerance for bugs and glitches. Additionally, it's adapting to a whole new form factor and all of it's functions.

I have this for work, it's a barebones android phone but it has two screens so you can multitask. I use it to remote into servers and such while I'm away from the office if need be. I'm not a fan of it, but it's the wow factor that it brings.

I can confirm. very buggy, but once you learn the bugs and how to avoid them it's not horrible..

I would never use this as my regular phone. I have my iPhone for that, this is more along the lines of a jaw dropping tablet with cellular capabilities.

Doesn't mean is obsolete per say... But soon will be abandoned product. Manufacturer is dropping out of the game, and further resale value if you would want to trade it in would be non-existent.
Trade-in wise, you are correct but also factor in their current price points. LGs tend to be very cheap phones after only a few months even before LG unfortunately decided to leave the mobile industry.

In my opinion you loss more by buying a Duo now even if you are able to trade it in later. Better off buying a Pixel phone with the Duo money now and still be able to trade it in later.

This is why Android users get a bad rep.

I have both, an iPhone and an android. I find my iPhone to be more user friendly and I have no problems with it. Android on the other hand just doesn't do it for me. to each their own

Precisely. My comment was defending you for your choice. I am an Android user but i dont go out of my way to tell other people how 'silly' they are.

I use this for my work phone, must have for multitasking, for example I normally have Teams and Outlook open at the same time. I can check my calendar while on a Teams call, send email, etc.... It does have its quirks but Microsoft has been updating it every month. Personally I love the phone. The only thing that sucks is the camera when compared to other phones in the same price range.

I hope they're giving gen 2 or 3 of this device a chance. Once they're more familiar with software to iron out bugs, get a better camera, dual speakers I think this would be a good device.

I'd like to purchase one for my dad, his eye site deteriorating recently is it user friendly and fit in a pocket?
Check first that there is some sort of "Magnification" option .... could be somewhere under Accessibility in the Settings menu (?)

Honestly:

If your dad wasn't an engineer or computer professional, he probably won't learn to use an Android smart phone.

I've gone through the Cycle of offering an smart phons to seniors n my family, and after having gone 0 in 3, I'm not going to entertain a fourth try.

Much better for him and you to get a magnifying glass for him to use for operating a flip phone, IMHO.

LoL IPhone people sound so funny. They talk like apple is God.

I have both and have been using both and I feel many of the iphone users havent given fair chance to any of the recent android flagships so they tend to always trash it.
I love my S21 and I do love the Iphone 12, was not the same with the Iphone 11 and the S20.
Between S21 and Iphone 12 I like them equally. Iphone for it's battery life and software updates and esim dual sim capability.
S21 because I really like the form factor, slimmer lighter, very nice screen and the one UI just feels more fluid and slick and multi tasking on an android seems better with having the ability to have 2 or more apps open together on the screen.
I like when I am using google maps and someone calls me I can see the map in a floating window in Android but not in an Iphone. I love how easy it is to make folders and make multiple home screens and so many widget option. Trying to put apps to folders and organize them is like trying to pull your teeth out in an iphone.
Bottom line is both are good in their own ways, and Andorid phones used to have some advanatages like notification leds, headphone jack, AMOLOED screens, micro SD cards, wireless charging, USB C, etc. While Apple adopted many of the android features seems like Android phone lost quite a lot trying to copy Apple which is sad.

I'm asking myself the same question. Also, what would the trade-in be at Microsoft or Best Buy when the next-gen comes out?

I bought this and returned it on the 14th day.

While people are different with what they like but I wont ever buy this as my only and primary phone sine this fails to do the phone thing very poorly. The camera is shit, having to open it each time you want to text is annoying. Overall performace is pretty unpredictable, it seems to be slowing down and unresponsive most of the times and ran smoothly only occasionally. I felt like its true plug and pray kind of phone.
I think $700 is not a good price for you to be a guniea pig more like a Beta product. $399-499 should have been a better price. Also interms of specs its not that top of the line either.
