First Alert is aware of the need for hardwired Zcombo alarms, and I know we are working on that technology. We were due to come out with new technology in May 2020, but that has been postponed until June 21st 2021. If we do come out with this technology, it will be highlighted on our website at that time. We do listen to our customers, and we are always improving.

Hardwired detectors are supposed to be on their own circuit, at least where I am. That way another load can't trip the breaker, rendering the detector(s) inoperable.

The 9120B is not a newer model, it's a different type of smoke detector. Ionization vs Photoelectric.

FYI, I bought a First Alert/BRK SC9120B (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00O8MVW12) from Amazon for $27.80 back in early March. It is a slightly newer model than this one.

I installed it in the hall near the only possible source of CO in our house: the furnace. I installed compatible smoke only detectors (BRK9120 - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000KKHWLU) in all of the bedrooms. The connectors are identical to the BRK model detectors that were first installed in our home, so installation was easy!

Because they're hardwired, if one goes off, they all go off, no matter what the reason is.

It is also newer, 2014 vs 2010.

That said, you've got me thinking maybe I should have this one in the hall if the detectors in the bedrooms are ionizing.

Are there dual photoelectric and ionization fire alarms other then nest protect?if so, can CO be included is these dual alarms?

I couldn't find one that was hardwired when I was looking a few months ago so I settled on ionization. But now I'm having second thoughts.

Ionization is supposed to be good except for kitchen I believe. Reccomendtion I read said both should be installed in a house.

You don't want hard wired unless you have easy access to every detector. When one goes off they all go off and there is no telling how long they will go off. I am speaking of false alarms. People talk about safety being paramount. So is peace of mind. I have hardwired connections that I no longer use because I have 7 smoke alarms.

I have the talking version of these with wireless connected between 3 alarms. I have one of the OP models as well, not connected to the talking units. These come with duracell batteries and they do not seem to false alarm. The AA batteries make these much more economical when replacing batteries regularly.

i have not tried talking version, will it turn off the alarm if i say shut-up to the device?
