Being a 300lb man (at times up to 365lb), I have learned to buy the FIRMEST, MOST EXPENSIVE mattress you can tolerate and afford. Yes, at first they feel like you're sleeping on a granite slab, but add a good 2 inch memory foam layer and they are pretty comfortable - PLUS YOUR BACK WILL THANK YOU! The heavier you are, the faster your body will compress a mattress. Having a good quality, very firm mattress will slow this process down considerably. Just my personal experience.

At first you will probably HATE your very firm mattress, over a few months as it softens up a bit, you will wonder why you ever bought a soft saggy mattress!

It's very difficult to research mattresses because the industry sells the same mattress under different names at various retailers. But if you compare the number of coils, the composition and thickness of the various layers, you can usually figure out competing products at different retailers, then just buy from the lowest price. I like us-mattress.com because they give comprehensive info about relative firmness, coils, layers, total weight, user reviews, etc., about their products. You can use this as a starting point to compare similar mattresses at other retailers by trying to match up some of the info. It's not always perfect, but it's the best way I have found to make an informed decision, in an industry that doesn't want consumers making informed decisions.

This stuff isn't worth anywhere near the claimed "worth" prices.

(Not speaking about this specific mattress) I always found that whole notion "you get what you pay" kind of crazy. What if I got something on sale does the quality drop since I paid less compared to someone who paid the full price. What if I bought a sh*tty over priced product would I still "get what I paid for". Measuring quality by price is absolute lunacy specially if you are a savvy buyer who is always looking for a deal.

My opinion, with mattresses you get what you pay for. I don't have this particular one but I'm thinking it's one you would normally put in your guest room.

My mom bought a super soft mattress that was killing my dads back... So you know what he did?

He cut a piece of 3/4 plywood, wrapped it in a sheet, put 2 yoga mats over it and sleeps on that on his side of the bed lolol

I cant only sleep on super firm mattresses or even on the floor.

I need a mattress for a camp that might get slept on one night a week. This might do the trick... any comments on it from someone who owns it? I prefer firm mattresses but this wont get a ton of use.

I got a similar deal with that exact adjustable base about a year ago. That base had iffy reviews but I figured why not, it's free. So far it's been great. I try to not put weight on it when I move it, I figure that takes all the stress off the motor. Hoping it will work for many years to come.
I can't remember if the mattress is the same as in this deal. I'm not in love with the one I got. My wife prefers a softer mattress and I prefer a firmer one. Ours doesn't make either one of us feel great in the morning.
I usually have neck pain when I wake up. I thought a good mattress will help. Nothing helped, from foam to sleep number to regular mattress. I did finally find a nice down pillow, and now I very rarely wake up with a painful neck. So that was apparently the secret.

Edit.
I just checked my order history. The mattress I got with this free base was a Serta Perfect Sleeper Kleinmon II Firm Pillow Top so disregard what I said about the mattress. It was also twice the price.

The problem is, a piece of 3/4 plywood costs more than a new bed now. Have you looked at the skyrocketing price of lumber is lately? Almost $100 per sheet after tax where I live.

Any way to not pay the $110 delivery fee? I don't see any kind of self-pick-up option.

EDIT: I see a $50 "Room of choice" option, instead of a "White Glove" option. So for $60, they put on a pair of gloves instead of just bare hands? Smilie

Anyone knows how this compares to the Seally Medium Firm mattress that Costco sells?

Room of choice means they bring it inside the house to where you want the box to be left. White glove typically includes unpacking, setup and haul away of trash on top of room choice.

For those interested since I was curious if you could get a better base with both head and foot lift since it mentions you can get an upgrade at a discounted price. I called and asked.

The set comes with the Reverie O200 which is super basic, head lift only and wired remote. These below are the web IDs from Macys and include both head/foot lift and various other features possibly. Price listed is on top of the $399 price.. so mostly not worth it for foot lift at almost $500 extra:

web id: 12013438 $479 Serta Motion Air (Sams Club sells this for $400)
web id: 9529341 $899 Serta Motion Essentials (same at JC Penney for $899)
web id: 10138208 $849 Sealy Ease 3.0 (Same at JC Penney for $850)
web id: 12024716 $479 Beautyrest Motion Air ($400 at JC Penney)

The $479 models are $300 off listed price currently. The other two are about $100 cheaper than listed price on the website. The discounted price as I said is above the $400 per the CSR I spoke with. Bit of a rip off when you can just buy it for the same price or less elsewhere without a bundled price.

Still, you'd be hard pressed to find an adjustable base and decent mattress for $400.

*EDIT - JC Penney kept default to twin xl price after I selected queen. Prices are fixed.
