It is a lot cheaper to do this than using something like Quickbooks. Also, much easier.
One thing I find useful is to create the accounts by including financial instiutions name with the last 4 digits of the account number. It makes it easier to read the transactions if one have to go back and reconcile. One can look at the receipt and see which account it originated from. This is very useful if one have a lot of credit cards with one institution.
I do this with all my credit cards, bank accounts and brokerage accounts.
Also, Quicken remembers your previous coding for certain transaction patterns and will try to code future transactions the same way. So on recurring transactions, try to make sure initial transactions are coded correctly.

The tax planner has never worked properly. I do run some of those reports but don't rely on them or use for transferring into my tax software. I use the reports mainly as a way to determine if I need to adjust my tax withholdings due to investment transactions during the year. they are nice to have though.
My subscription expires on May 25th. I think I'm going to pick up the deluxe with the sale and 15% cash back and give it a try for a year.
It depends on how much you depend on Quicken for monthly information. I like the year end totals for tax purposes and don't use it for investments. It's also super easy to find purchases so you can find the receipt for warranty, returns etc if you put memo's in it for the item.
Yep sure do and it had some advantages over this new software. Easier to add transactions to an existing account/file. You could import transactions from another account with ease.

Will Quicken Deluxe allow you to have more then 1 file. I think it will. Quicken told me if I downgraded I'd lose a file and that might be true if you downgrade--but you should be able to back up your other files and create files in the Deluxe model and then restore that file so it would bring my other files from Home and Business into the NEW Deluxe (downgrade)????
I've used Quicken for over 30 years and was currently using the 2017 version. The last straw was when I needed to switch back from Quicken Windows to Quicken 2017, and the Mac version would NOT let me import the file without an active subscription. I was fine manually entering my transactions. If you are just using this for household use, check out Moneydance. https://infinitekind.co
I can also import the transactions from my bank manually. Although it does have the ability to auto download transactions, your bank may not be one of the ones compatible.
Big uproar over it on their forums. The company is unwilling to remove them

on the side of one of the account ledgers is information about what it can't do or something like that.
I might renew in another month or so--but going to wait for the 3 month and then download the past 3 months at one time and then I'm current again.
Seriously looking at the other software that some mentioned.
Who will need this software if the Federal Income Tax is No longer legal and an issue??
That is a possibility and those that are paying attention and are awake are aware of it.
Plenty of places talking about it.
We still use Microsoft Money on all our Windows 10 computers and have no problems. (The only caveat is that most banks only let you download the Quicken "QFX" format, and you need to convert to the Money "OFX" specification - easy conversion).
For what it's worth: I currently use Quicken 2013. It's still running fine, with no annual subscription fees. I believe Quicken 2017 was the last non-subscription package, and CDs of those older Quicken versions are still occasionally available on eBay. [/QUOTE]
But you can't use any of the 'online' features like downloading transactions from you bank, right?

Maybe someone who use this feature can opine on this.
