Having owned many high-powered Chromebooks over the years, the chrome browser doesn't really use more than a few threads at the most. This chip is interesting because it has a very high base frequency. They seem tailor made for each other.

Ordered one for my mom since she wants a bigger screen and they're aren't many good Chromebooks that are bigger than 14" out there. My only worry is that the screen won't be bright enough at 250 nits but I don't think that'll be an issue in her apartment.
Curious for those who have purchased, what are your thoughts? I purchased it before deal was posted and picked up a few days ago. Was not available for a week after purchase. My first Chromebook so wasn't sure what to expect. I will probably return it unfortunately.
The touch pad is off. It's like double clicking or something. Loose maybe like the reviewer mentioned. Also very sensitive. The screen is pretty bad in my opinion. I knew it was a risk at 250 nits. If it wasn't specifically for media consumption, I could live with it. Maybe. But since for me it's mainly for Youtube, movies etc, it's not very good. Colors aren't great and not bright enough. Will never try a 250 nit screen again. On anything. Last is the battery. I put on YouTube autoplay. Maxed out brightness and got 5 hours 10 minutes out of it. Twice about the same time. Lowered brightness a bit till it looked too dim for movies and only 40 minutes more. Not sure how people are getting 7-8 hours on a charge. Probably not playing videos the whole time.
Otherwise it's a pretty good machine. Very fast, good keyboard and speakers. I think most will like it. But watching videos/movies all the time, the screen just doesn't cut it for me. Nor does the touch pad. I hope Best Buy doesn't charge a restocking fee. I can't remember.

I bought this for my mom and she loves it. Set it up for her so I had a chance to tool around with it for a bit and didn't notice any issues with the trackpad.
As far as the screen goes, it's a desktop replacement that she'll only be using indoors in a moderately lit environment so the brightness isn't an issue. If fact, she prefers keeping brightness at around 50%.
Battery won't be a problem since she's not taking it anywhere.
