Please consider changing the thread title from Intel Core 11th Gen i3 to Intel i3-1115G4. There are two very distinct i3 11th generation CPUs out there, the budget/value dual core i3-1115G4 and the four core i3-1125G4. The latter is an i5 in all but name, with identical Passmark scores to the immediate i5 model up the ladder (and lacking only the newer Xe-generation integrated graphics).

FYI: the following was based upon my failure to recognize this was a Chromebook. See my post here for notes on this somewhat uniquely positioned premium Chromebook. TLDR: running ChromeOS doesn't necessarily make this a better deal, but does make it one of very few options for a Chromebook shopper with these specific options on their shopping list.
This would have been a real Slickdeal with a quad core CPU. As it stands, this is really the right price as it represents a $100-ish discount on comparable, refurbished 2-in-1 laptops which do have quad core CPUs (check Micro Center).

Good luck!

Sorry for any misunderstanding, but I am not some kind of Slickdeals saboteur. Rather, I'm just another rando deals enthusiast, probably with just as much to say about power strips as PCs these days.

This is a powerful Chromebook. This is also a $400 Chromebook. You like it and I'm more in the pretty good but maybe not for everybody(?) camp. I don't think that puts us on opposite sides. I don't consider you a competitor, but rather assume that we're all working together to evaluate and promote the best deals (and maybe tamp down some of the more obnoxious shilled deals?).

At the same time, I have found some of your posts less than pleasant. With so many posts and a nice Pro flag on your profile, might I ask that if along with the volume of posts you're contributing to the community you also consider what you're doing to foster the same level of participation and engagement among the other community members?

Good luck!
Jon

It is even cheaper Open-Box Excellent $326.99.

Been looking for 8GB DDR, NVME and I3. This has all of that and HDMI 2.0

I may finally get my 55" TV to run 4k @ 60hz.

It is 4.3 pounds and rather thick but I can live with that. Mostly it will stand on a stand.

Edit: The open box prices have gone up.

I am running a 4k 60hz external monitor with no problem at all on it. So the HDMI 2.0 is fully functional. First time I have gotten the 60 hz to work on this TV.

I got it a few weeks ago. Open box like 350 out the door.

Great in every way but it's heavy.

I would rather have the Spin 713 but doubt it will go back on sale at that price. It is now on sale at $529. As you mentioned. No open box available nearby. YMMV on that.

In for one for my mother for Christmas.

She loves an Acer Chromebook I gave her back in 2013 or so, but it's no longer supported. A bigger screen is good for her as well, and she typically only moves it around the house.

This is one of the highly-rated Chromebook out there with the only main con being the screen (only 250 nits). Everything else is solid. Definitely going to jump on it while waiting to see anything else pop up for BF and Christmas.

It is possible the 713 will be posted in a similar price range...eventually but that previous deal was pretty exceptional. This is a very nice deal.

This will run for up to about 11 hours on the battery.

It is super fast it will blow away most Chromebooks and be way faster than most Windows.

50 or more tabs no problem.

The M.2 is upgradable not the DDR.

This was previously on sale:

Yes it will make it easier to find the CPU name.

However you seem to ignore all the great things this CPU does and latch only on to how many cores.

Why is Intel Core i3-1115G4 better than Intel Core i3-1125G4?
0.4GHz higher turbo clock speed?
4.1GHzvs3.7GHz
6.94% higher PassMark result (single)?
2741vs2563
1MB/core more L3 cache per core?
3MB/corevs2MB/core
https://versus.com/en/intel-core-...-i3-1125g4
That is a Slick Deal. Anything using not all four cores will be faster on this CPU. I find it very unlikely that if you could get this with the 25 you would notice any difference for doing what these are made for.

But by your logic nothing is now Slick because Gen 12 is coming out and will be 13% faster. Then perhaps all I3's will be four or even 6 cores. So just wait till next year. Better still wait till 2023 for Gen 13.

Quite the opposite. Note how I was actually somewhat dismissive of the Xe graphics core. However, overall the quad-core i-series have proven their longevity thanks to the constant march towards multi-threading that exists even for as basic an activity as browsing with a few tabs open. I still daily-drive an Intel Core2 Q9505 quad core as the media machine for my projector (running Windows 10).

I've seen many full-throated defenses of dual-core i-series systems and, similarly, the even lower cost Atom-based systems. Dual core systems have a position in the PC ecosystem, but not one that is necessarily easy to recommend broadly as a long-term, Windows-based daily driver.

FYI: the following was based upon my failure to recognize this was a Chromebook. See my post here for notes on this somewhat uniquely positioned premium Chromebook. The prices below do highlight the unique price position of premium Chromebooks, but don't necessarily provide a significant critique of this deal beyond the kind of system of average buyer might shop at this price point.
The recent i3-1125G4 deals at Targetat $340, Costco at $390 offer good context for this deal. The Target deal represented the best price to date for a modern, retail 4-core general productivity laptop. For a $50 price premium you got the same deal in the more compact 14" form factor. This ASUS asks for an additional $60 over the Target deal to get the touch screen / convertible form factor... but demands that the CPU be sacrificed in exchange.

For a user well-informed on how that trade-off might affect their own workflow, this could be a reasonable exchange.
Good luck!

Guess you should send a email to the editors of that report.

Your opinion is all you have.

I have seen four cores blown away by two core CPUs. Guess we should just all buy Meditech 8 core ones is that really your argument?

Why are you comparing Windows to Chromebooks? Two very different things. Because you realize at least there is no other real option.

Regardless your argument has no weight. Fact is most apps still do not use four cores. Thus this CPU is faster with them.

I'll quote myself here with an emphasis added.

So now let's get to the real misunderstanding on my part...
Quote from SteveA7911 :

Given the CPU and pricing the one detail I had not noticed was that this was, in fact, a Chromebook(!). That was a mistake on my part. This should definitely suggest that the CPU in question is not only more than capable for its application (Chrome OS), but is a relative beast in the Chromebook world. Of course, that premium performance is reflected in the price since this is very much the territory of similarly equipped Windows laptops.

The combination of features here places this device firmly on the radar for premium Chromebook shoppers specifically seeking out the combination of larger 15.6" form factor with a high horsepower CPU (HP was probably the last manufacturer to try an entry in this space with the 15-de0517wm [hp.com] and I recall tracking that model very closely as it exited Micro Center).

I'm not sure if this is intentional, but your responses came across as aggressive. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

Good luck!
Jon
