I used this stuff on my lawn about a month or so ago. We had some deadening grass that actually went to dirt from all the death. I dug through the dirt and found a lot of dead grubs. So, this stuff did the job, I just waited too long. I'll be applying this early Spring from now on.

Not only that but racoons with tear up sections of your lawn looking for grubs to eat.
For me it was skunks, but same difference.

This GrubEx stuff did the job though. There's a really simple test you can do to see if you have grubs. Grab a shovel, dig down a few inches, and bring up a chunk about a foot around (square the edges so you can replace it easily). When you lift it up, you should see a few bugs. For me, it was grub city. I was actually shocked at how many. I think it's something like more than 3 in that foot square is bad. I put this stuff down and the grubs disappeared. The skunks were digging less and less and eventually gave up...or at least apparently moved down the block to a neighbor since I saw they have holes now.

I had the exactly same question. Ortho is $9.96: Ortho BugClear Lawn Insect Killer1: Treats up to 16,500 sq. ft., Protect Your Yard & Garden Against Ants, Spiders, Ticks, Fleas & Grubs, 10 lbs.

At Lowe's Ortho is $7.00
ORTHO Bug Clear has Bifenthrin which is chemically classified as a pyrethroid which tends to bind tightly with soil. Bifenthrin is used regularly as an insecticide to target red fire ants but also has a moderate to high toxicity to worms. You will probably kill all beneficial worms and possibly poison those species that eat worms (Robins, Cardinals).

can confirm. had horrible raccoon problems at new house, starting doing a strict grub regimen and now don't seem to have any more raccoons digging in the yard.

The raccoon problem was so bad that i was live trapping and set up a motion activated water spray to try to prevent them from digging my precious new grass.

I always spread this product around the May time frame.

Good article on grubs and their prevention/removal :: https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/how..._your_lawn. For reference, GrubEx contains Chlorantraniliprole.

Seems like a good deal, thanks! From what I can tell it comes with feed that has an NPK ratio that matches the optimum ratio for plants, 3-1-2 (the box is 24-8-16). A lot of people complain about leaks but a reviewer said to make sure it isn't missing a washer at the hose connection, and if it is add one and that solves the problem.

Treating in late summer or early fall is ideal, as that is when the smaller, young grubs are most susceptible to nematodes. There is also usually a short window for application in early spring before the grubs get too big and pupate.

That ez seed stuff is the bomb. I bought clearance bags of it last fall and did trouble areas. Nicest areas in my lawn now. If I had known I would've paid $$$ for my entire lawn. Going to wait until fall again bc my understanding is baby grass will die in our summer heat right now.

I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the product you linked here. One major issue, the misleading part of the product is "season long control against ants". There are many videos on YouTube telling about killing grub on contact and season long control of grub. Ant is not at the interest for now.

The Scott's DiseaseX usually drops down to $11.xx but I see it at $17.xx off about 15%, cheaper way to get some axoystrobin before the humidity rises.

I was at lowes when I saw this deal. They wouldn't price match Scott's items.
