Curious: Is an RSIM unlock permanent? Does this mean the phone works for all GSM carriers after any updates forever?

Thanks in advance... Total Wireless looks decent by the way.

Unlock unnecessary for trade in?
Correct, as long as iCloud/Find my phone are logged out, you are good to trade-in. Worked for me over the weekend.

The RSIM unlock is permanent as long as you don't factory reset/itunes reset the device, I believe. I have 1st gen AT&T Iphone SE that was RSIM-unlocked 3 years ago and it is still unlocked.

Get an unlock sim and update the ICCID, pop it in and it's unlocked, I just did it to my TW $99 SE.
Does it really work? Unlock sim. I saw $5 all over on Facebook. And is it permanent?

Yes, I bought 3 of these with the intention of trading in to help save some $ on a new iphone. Worked easily. Phones looked to be in great condition.
Did you get the coupon code to work with all three? Could you explain

In for 2 - for trade-in. Some cash for the 13 when it comes out :-)
Were you able to get the coupon to work with multiple?

IIRC- the codes were single use, one per email address. However, if you happen to have multiple email addresses....

Yep, I've used it on multiple phones and it's not affected by updates. It's a soft unlock so resetting the phone removes the unlock, in which you just change the ICCID and re-unlock it.

I received my phone but didn't get a code for the $25 plan this time. It sounds like it's tied to the SIM card, which is preactivated to the phone. Anyone know if there's a way to transfer this to their current account?

Right, total wireless now loads the service plan card of whatever value you purchase on the included sim. That means you can not sell the plan "card" like in the past.

But if you are upgrading an existing Total wireless phon then select activate from the website, enter the SIM card code, then select your exist8ng phone number and the "card" loaded on the sim will be added to the reserve in your account (to be used when your current plan expires".

I see that most people here are scheming to unlock this phone or use it to trade in with the purchase of something new but total wireless is perhaps the all arround best value mobile service provider right now. Verizon's network with quality roaming that puts visible to shame, great pricing, and a rewards program that can earn you $80 in credits for entering a referral code within 14 days of activation, so not only is theirs a phone and month of service for about $125 but for new subscribers who join the free rewards program and enter a referral code you get another three months of service free.

Total Wireless uses Verizon network, so does that mean severe throttling during busy hour? And very little or no hotspot at all?

Too bad trade-in value for this phone has been worse than iPhone 8 on T-Mobile.
