With their constant solicitation calls, emails, letters, and ads in my vehicle for a very poor quality radio service, I'll pass, even when free.

The bitrate is about 64 kbps for music and 32 kbps for talk on Sirius.
The bitrate on Spotify HIFI/Tidal Masters is 320 kbps CD quality for lossless audio.

Use an app, connect a cable, and ditch the garbage audio of Sirius. (FM radio is 96 kbps)

The bitrate is probably somewhere between 24–48 kbps depending if the AAC variant is based on v1 or v2 of the HE codec. The sample rate of the played back audio is likely 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz which will yield 16–22 kHz of audio bandwidth.

Worked for two Hondas... use a unique (or misspelled ) name if you've previously been an active customer.

Does the dealer app method include Howard Stern or just basic stuff?
It is listed as 3 months of Plat. Plan so should include those as well.

I can smell their desperation. They fire all the talent last fall to pay for Howard and lost a ton of listeners, including me. I do miss the music but not for $20/month that increases regularly.
I wish they would ditch all the disc jockeys and just play music.

As a dealer I get it for free on all our cars. (I can just reactivate every 90 days for cars in inventory)

I still use my phone most of the time for music

They keep cutting talent, which results in subscriber loss.

I guess once they hit rock bottom they figure they will re-sign as an all podcast network? No thanks.

I'm in it for $60 a year now, but if they don't re-up one more show I listen to I'm out.

Thanks OP! Worked on my Audi after a few tries. For some reason, it would not accept any of my Yahoo email accounts. I put in a Hotmail email address and then it went through. Also used a Google Voice phone number.

I have a love/hate relationship with SirusXM. I like it, but after 3 months I am like, I'm not paying for this nor do I want to give them my credit card. Over the past year and half this is my 3rd "3-month trial." Seems like after 3 months my SirusXM fix is good until another trial comes along.
Privacy.com solves the credit card issue.

Seems like you can only activate while the car is on and the radio on Sirius channel 0.. I just tried to activate 5 radio IDs at the dealership (where I previously activated my mom's car) and they all had the same error.

To DIY, download the SiriusXM dealer app, drive to a dealership (I have read not all dealerships work?), then with your radio on siriusxm channel 0 (displays your radio ID) type in your radio id on the app. It should give you a success message on the app and your siriusxm should eventually work on the car.

YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpAOBfDoHXY

Android app: https://play.google.com/store/app...n_US&gl=US

Apple app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sir...d971618737
Did this dealer app thing today and it was activated within a few minutes.
There was a warning not to touch/change anything on the radio while waiting for the activation download. Upon activation within a couple of minutes the display changed to show that the channels were being downloaded, and a few seconds later the radio was activated and on.

It was impossible to change the radio to channel 0 as it was locked on the preview channel 184 with the constant announcements to subscribe, but there was no problem with the activation.
It was done parked outside a Ford and Honda dealerships, not the same as the car brand, and a clear view of the sky.
The app MUST be allowed to access the smartphone's location before the radio # is entered and the activation is attempted.

NOW, the question is: Can this be repeated after the 6 months run out, or must a certain time pass, say a month or two.

It includes Howard Stern.

Just make sure the car is on and running when you do the app thing.

No. Howard died when he allowed his life coach to change who he is. The current Howard sucks and needs to retire. 90s/00s Howard would kick today's Howard's ass. To many of his fans, he is dead.
You're right!
Howard was an irreverent SOB in the 80's and 90's even before he got to XM when he was at the local OTA stations with Robin his sidekick!
And then the FCC got on his case and he moved to XM.................

I would rather use TuneIn instead. I use car's Bluetooth audio with TuneIn.

I think the reason why a lot of people park it on channel 0 is because your radio ID will display on that channel. I activated an older Ford yesterday and for the life of m e I could not get the radio to tune to channel 0 at all. So I registered the VIN instead and it worked perfectly. I don't think it really matters what channel you got it on as long as your car is running and tuned to an XM station.

I did this method and when it expired I tried it again and it didn't work. It's been a while since I tried last, but I was able to get 3 months using the link on this thread. Coincidentally it just expired a couple days ago. Now they are only offering me 1 month free.

Are you referring to the OP method or the dealer app method?

I did the dealer method 9+ months ago for the first time and it worked. When it expired I tried it (dealer method) again and didn't work. The link in this thread ( xm website )was posted several months ago and it worked for me but it just expired a couple days ago. I now tried the XM website again and I qualify but only for 1 month trial. Weird.

Had the same experience with the OP XM website method back in May and it worked for the 3 months, but after it expired it was no go after multiple attempts with various emails/addresses/names.
Yesterday, tried the new dealer app method and it worked with no problems as I posted above.
People have posted here that the dealer app method is good for 6 months but we'll see if it's 6 or 3 months.

Have you tried the dealer app now?
People have posted here that there was an issue with another older version of the dealer app and it wouldn't work. Perhaps, if you tried the new dealer app version now with the process as described above here by me and others it may work.
