My experience with any woot deal on SD is they have promoters on any thread talking the product up, probally make a living by lying to consumers but so do politicians so nbd
The shills are out in full force in this thread this evening. This damn grinder shows up as a front page deal almost every 2-3 weeks or so, and with so few comments.
EDIT: Woot shill is downvoting any negative comment about the Ariete. 😂
Aren't you supposed to grind coarse for French press?

Anyone have experience with this grinder? I was going to spend the extra money for the Baratza Encore but if this is similar, I'd grab it.

I appreciate the insight. I'll probably wait for the refurb Encore to come in stock.
I checked the 1-star reviews on Amazon and they are pretty brutal. ReviewMeta rated it 4.2 stars. I have a great commercial burr grinder that will never die but I'm always hoping to find a reliable smaller one. Can't see that this qualifies.

After just reading about both, I went for the Encore. The company and the grinder both get really good reviews, and I'd rather spend the money now and have a dependable grinder that lasts and is easy to get replacement parts for if needed.

I was in this exact spot about 6 months ago, but according to several people who are active on the r/coffee subreddit on reddit, the Encore is head and shoulders above the Ariete. I've seen a lot of people complain that the grind is very inconsistent with the Ariete, especially if you grind finer for something like French press. I have nothing bad to say about my Encore.

I can't say enough good things about the encore. It will truly last you forever. Super easy to replace parts.
Not as good as the Baratza Encore
Just got my wife the Encore and am sure it will last a long time

You're correct. I got my Aeropress and French press grinds switched around. 😂
