That is true, but I didn't find it to be much of a problem.
I spent a few minutes sorting pieces into separate containers based on color and if they were body panels, long girder pieces, connecting pegs, etc. And it was totally fine.

Apparently the bags of pieces included in this set aren't numbered which makes the build difficult. Finding parts is like a needle in a 1500(+) piece haystack.

Super cool car but will be a tough build.
I picked one up the last time this was featured. I can confirm that the bags do not come labeled. I spent more time looking for pieces than actually building.

i think all of this type are the same. i got the ducati at christmas to build with my son. same way. kinda fun, brings some thought into what goes where. not hard at all, just different
I had this set and found it boring to play with. Cool display set though.
How old are you? These aren't for playing with unless you're a child. These are meant to be built and displayed or modified into a MOC.

Most higher age sets don't get numbered bags.

Note that Amazon is frustration free packaging at the sale price.
The three FF I ordered last time all came double boxed and were inside one large Amazon box.
Bought this last time it was on sale. Yes, the bags aren't numbered and two of us maybe spent 20 minutes sorting some pieces but overall, doesn't take away from the build.
Retiring this year? Cool. Frustration free just means comes with a compact outer box that probably came straight from Lego so Amazon doesn't have to worry about placing it in a box. I like that.

Technic are meant for an older market. All Lego sets use to be that way actually

Frustration free means there's a box on the outside, correct? Like straight from Lego?

Just built space shuttle discovery listed as 16 or 18+ years if I recall. It had numbered bags.
