I have this smoker and I really like it. The propane can work on its own like a grill. Propane adds no smoke flavor. You can also use wood chips, chunk, charcoal to the pan the sits on top of the burner. The propane comes in handy at the end of a long cook when you're trying to speed things up without having to add more charcoal or wood.

This is a great entry level smoker. I've been using it for 1 year now and it works great. I love the fact that you can use gas, charcoal and wood chucks. I recommend a wireless thermometer to control the internal temp.
