I bought it at the last sale a month ago. Works pretty good, quick growing some basil and tiny tim tomatoes. The internal pump is pretty silent. The lights have three different modes and turn on/off automatically, they are cheap on your electric bill (think they are 25 or 35 watts). My humidifier uses more kWh in a day than this in a month. I am very happy with this product. Also had a question with the timer, posted it in Amazon and customer service stepped in quickly to solve my problem.

Ordered one but then sorted the Amazon reviews by most recent...the recent reviews are pretty dicey, with about half reporting that it broke after a month or so of use.

The lights do not to need to be always on. But either way, this uses electricity, so there will be an impact on your bill, unless you run an extension cord from the neighbors house.

At least they're LEDs, so not the type of thing that will tip off the Feds when your power bill suddenly spikes.

The lights are 25w total, so equivalent to leaving 3 LED bulbs on for the same amount of time. Unless you're the type to keep the lights in your house off unless you're having company over, the power usage would not be noticeable on your monthly bill. Even if you ran this for the 18 hr setting, and your electricity rates were amongst the highest in the US at .20 per kWh, it would still cost less than $3/mo.
