this is a pretty solid deal for those looking at premium ultrabooks.

However - I have this xps with these exact specs and I must say, I'm starting to regret the purchase.

with 12th gen just around the corner and the new M1 chips absolutely igniting competition....I wish I would have waited / went with a beater for a while.

plus the battery life isn't that impressive, and the cooling is sub-par. thing gets SUPER hot.

premium feel, though.

just my 2 cents

For folks OK with factory refurbs, Dell has the same computer/specs, but with a 1tb SSD rather than 512gb on sale for $1099 on their Outlet site [dell.com].

Similar battery life as M1 Air (don't trust Apple numbers. I get 8-11 hours on my M1 Air with light use)

No, it's not faster than M1, but most people won't notice.

An actually great deal on a high-end well-specced ultrabook? A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

Laptops from the Dell Outlet [dell.com] are like new. At worst the scratch & dents have minor imperfections. This is the way to save hundreds.

How's this screen quality compared to something like the M1? I know the obvious resolution difference, but is it noticable?

Community Wide Red Alert.
Do Not Under Any Circumstances Buy a Laptop this Year.

The 11th Gen 1185G7 is still just a 4 Core CPU with 12MB of Cache.

By November 2021, Intel will Launch the 12th Gen line

With true 8 Core Laptop CPUs with 4 Effcient cores. That's 12 Real Cores And 24 threads

Or even a lower end Laptop will have 4 Core Plus 4 Efficient Cores that's 8 Real Cores with 16 Threads

I can't comment on most of your points, but I didn't know 12th gen is coming soon. I think the first laptops with 11th gen processors only started selling like 8-9 months ago.

I agree with bru_that about his recommendation for the certified refurbished with better specs at $1099. I believe all of the Dell XPSs I have purchased have come from the outlet.

11th Gen is a throwaway for Intel. There's nothing different vs 10th Gen at least focused on the Laptop market.

12th Gen is a significant Architectural change. Where a laptop can have 8 Performance Cores and 4 Low Powers Efficiency Cores allowing for 20 Hour battery Life. And 24 Threads from 12 Cores.

But my M1 iPad Pro will need to last until 2022 and Raptor Lake with LPDDR5X RAM support and PCIEXPRESS 5.0

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lea...260.0.html

I can hold out. Maybe Ryzen 6000 series on Laptop will be even better on 3nm Vs Intel on 10nm oooof
