FYI, the lawn/garden guy at my local Home Depot told me recently (about 3 weeks ago) that HD had already made the corporate decision late last year, to completely drop the EGO brand entirely from all of their stores, as well as hd.com.
He said if I actually see any EGO stuff for sale in a Home Depot store, it'll likely be 'old' 2020 year (or even older) stock & that it also 'should' have a variable clearance price on it (mileage always varies on clearance as we all on know).
So... can anyone confirm perhaps that what that guy told me is right (or partially right). I was thinking that even if they stopped selling the equipment, they still sell the batteries, at least for a year or two, IMHO.
Anyway, he's been a pretty reliable information source for years in regard to HD (he's been at my local HD for 7+ years), but I was hoping some of you folks out there could at least weigh in on the 'no more EGO at Home Depot' concept.
And I can also confirm that I no longer see any EGO equipment on sale at 3 of my local Home Depot stores, so... sadly, he might be right. : (
Also, he also thinks EGO may now be a 'Lowes exclusive brand'. But that, I kinda doubt. However, he again, could be 100% accurate again.
Thx for any & all info. from my fellow 'yard maintainers' out there.
In 7 years I've had 2 spindles replaced, numerous belts, 2 batteries, and I can't even figure how much in fuel. As a low estimate in 7 years I've spent at least $2500 in repairs, a majority of that would be covered by no gas. So I do see the appeal in an all electric. I would never get a stamped deck though unless you live in a perfect subdivision lot.

Contacted ryobi and they sent me a new gauge which did nothing.
They want me to haul it to a Ryobi repair spot. Closest of which is 40 mins. I have to rent a truck. Take it in. Wait for them to inspect. Rent another truck to pick up. Hope it's repaired.
I contacted the repair shop and there was a 6 week wait. I have not heard back 8 weeks later. At this point I'm outside of the 1 yr warranty on battery, so I may end up paying $200 on truck rentals hauling back and forth only for them to deny a repair.
I'm very unhappy.
Other than battery not issues, everything else is great. Cuts well. Fast. Easy access to blades. Annoying to keep charged 24/7 (have to store in garage) but that's okay
Fabricated deck, lithium ion batteries, grease points, one larger motor running pullies, and a stand on version would be great.

Last week I pulled the trigger on the Toro Timecutter 50in with MyRide and couldn't be happier with it for $3599. Also highest ranked by Consumer Reports.
Literally the only disadvantage an electric motor has vs a gas is energy capacity. With the advancement of batteries lately that gap is closing. Torque, rpm, longevity, etc of electric have always blown away gas motors.

Good luck getting battery to last over 10 years.

Tip on your battery if it wont take a charge anymore. Add distilled water to the battery cells and charge the battery again. I am on the 3rd year for my battery, they usually need to be replaced every season, if you don't know this trick.
