Contacted ryobi and they sent me a new gauge which did nothing.
They want me to haul it to a Ryobi repair spot. Closest of which is 40 mins. I have to rent a truck. Take it in. Wait for them to inspect. Rent another truck to pick up. Hope it's repaired.
I contacted the repair shop and there was a 6 week wait. I have not heard back 8 weeks later. At this point I'm outside of the 1 yr warranty on battery, so I may end up paying $200 on truck rentals hauling back and forth only for them to deny a repair.
I'm very unhappy.
Other than battery not issues, everything else is great. Cuts well. Fast. Easy access to blades. Annoying to keep charged 24/7 (have to store in garage) but that's okay
What process did you follow as far as plugging in the charger to the wall and plugging in the charger to the mower?
The correct process is:
To charge: plug charger into mower wait at least 10 seconds then plug charger into wall.
To disconnect before mowing: unplug charger from wall wait at least 10 seconds, unplug charger from mower.
Also another tip for anyone with these ryobi mowers. If your battery gauge falls out of sync it will report half charge or less but really still have a full charge. To re-sync follow the disconnect procedure above and leave the key in the mower for 15 min in the on position. Turn off the mower and follow the charge procedure above and the next time you disconnect the mower it should be back in sync if it isn't already after letting it sit for 15 min in on position and cycling the key off and back on.

fuel, I go through like two gallons a month, 6 months a year, 20 bucks lets say. over 5 years, thats 100 bucks.
yeah.. electric isn't cheap enough to be worth while yet. give it 10 years, when electrics are around a grand I may switch over to it.
matienance isn't really needed on a reliable mower, just check the belts, mine havnt been touched, nothing. I might put a new spark plug in, but its running great, so I dont even see a point. I keep it on a battery tender in shed, there's a solar panel on it, with a 12v maintainer, im still on the oem battery.

I'm not going to say electric is cheaper, but I don't think it is significantly more expensive.
