The batteries on these are just golf cart batteries. You don't have to get them from a proprietary vendor. A huge advantage when these die. Leoch LPC12-75

3 years ago, we bought the 100Ah version of this, without the bagger. 3 years later, we still love it. We have 1.5 acres that are mowable, and we still have 35-40% battery left. All our yard equipment is now ryobi battery, except for the garden tiller.

I think it means the batteries still have juice after mowing that big yard, not the overall battery condition.

I'm open to a riding mower but at $3800 i'll continue to pay $90/mo to have someone do it for me.
For $90/month, go for the regular mower for $1k. Pay for itself in 1yr.

Nice, good to know. Looks like 100Ah batteries run about $200 a piece and you'd need 4 of them. A steep price to pay but hopefully they last 4-5 years. I'm certain it's still cheaper than EGO's typical proprietary battery packs. I love my EGO blower and trimmer but $250 for a single battery when the current ones finally die is going to hurt.
Send it to a battery refurbisher and renew it for a fraction of that price. Usually only one of the cells in the pack goes bad. Another option is repair it yourself by doing some research online. By the time you need to replace the pack, replacement battery prices will have fallen substantially.

Yep. I'm sticking with my $200 used Ariens gas riding mower until the smaller battery riding mowers are more affordable. Maintenance is cheap and pretty easy, though I did have to buy a new starter for $50 last year: removal and installation was simple. That's been the biggest expense. Gas for me is under $10 a year. I also got a free case of W30 mower oil on clearance at the auto parts store.
I use amsoil, its really good stuff, im preferred customer. ie. my cars are all amsoil signature series oil, rated 25k. I did an oil analysis recently out of curiosity out of my full bolt on, fully tuned mustang ecoboost. did TBN etc, long story short. the 15k mileage oil was EXCEPTIONAL. easily could reach its claimed 25k.

I do 15k intervals on my cars, 3 of them, my longest is @ 175k miles, doesnt miss a beat.

my motorcycles I do 4-5 year intervals, 5 year shelf life on the oil and I only put like a thousand a year on the bikes each.

my generac generator I do every 3 years, it runs an hour a month, havnt had any issues.

mower, I will prob rock 5 years, I only have .42 actual lawn so that all summer long and fall, isn't unreasonable.

oh, I also put like 1/8th of a bottle of seafoam in every 5 gallon jug of gasoline that I use in my mowers, it keeps it from gelling up/always working.

Looks like it takes both hands to steer this? How can you drink your beer and mow at the same time?

Specifications look wrong too ... Says it takes leoch model LPC12-100 batteries which are 100ah and not 75ah, which are about $100 less per battery ... so that's probably how they can shave $400 off the price.

How big is your yard and what area do you live? I live in PA and had a john deere riding mower and had about .75 acres. I used way way way more than 2 gallons a month. I had to fill the tank every time I cut pretty much. Also really needed to do a oil change more often than you are saying. Nice setup with the battery though.

I'm not going to say electric is cheaper, but I don't think it is significantly more expensive.
Like .49 acre but my cub cadet sips fuel.

Where on earth or mars did you get the Z6? All I can find is it will be available after summer but them the grass won't grow and I don't want 5k sitting…
I got super lucky, when to Lowes saw two one is new and another is customer returned, but looks brand new. Talk to the manager he knock it down then I use 10% coupon on top of it, out the door around $3600. Super happy with it so far! my yard is small 1/3 and get around 65% left with 4 stock 10ah batteries. I have another two 5ah I could use it on the mower if need to.

You guys need to consider is a luxury to have an electric mower as the noise level is low compared to gas where you can hear all the way down the street. This probably doesnt required hearing protection as the blades and motor is under mower and sounds like a big fan spinning. So you paying a higher prices for ease to use product. Expect to get a new battery within 2-3 years. $800-$1000 vs EGO z6 $1400-$1600 (4-6 yrs). So either way you paying about $200-$400 a year for gas(belts, service, gasoil, etc) or electric saving that money for new batteries. It's instant start, quiet, no smell or leaking oil or gas. If you have a small yard less than .5 acre go for it anything larger stick with gas.

I have had slickdeals as my home page for 10 years. last 3 years things have gotten considderably more questionable. THIS which I have been looking for a deal on pops up as FIRE BUY? With this price.

This site is turning into facebook. Its no longer about good deals its a marketing POS.

10 years as my home page and I can no longer trust the deals here. This isnt a deal. Best price on this in the past was 1k lower. Now 8% off and it pops up as a FIRE DEAL.

I wonder how many others who lived by this site are done or about as done with it as I am. I think most of the comments here are BS placed for sales.

Yeah I can mow 20 acres with this......WTF. Real people are no longer even a part of the conversation here.
Came here to say the same thing. This is BS.

Pretty sure you read it right at first. Since they're lead acid, they have to be replaced every 3-5 years depending on usage patterns & how much care you take w/ float charges, cell watering, winter temps, etc. The batteries in the ryobi have a max depth of discharge of 50% so them saying they've got 30-40% left on the gauge means that they've got 30-40% left of the usable 50% capacity which means they're already in need of replacing @ 3yrs. This guy did the math for the 75A version - https://todaysmower.com/is-owning...effective/

The 100AH model needs 4 - lpc12-100 battery of which the generic amazon ones cost $218 + shipping each so $800+ every 3-5 years?

If you're in the market the XT1 LT42e I picked up Saturday was $3999 +tax w/ 2yr 0% financing, no bagging kit but since it's just their standard XT1 chassis most accessories are compatible. I like the fact that I'm mowing electric, and the Lithium Ion batteries should last 7-10 years easy unless you something strange happens and they a 4yr battery warranty out of the gate.

That said I can tell the cubcadet/MTD engineers & assembly line folks don't know squat about electronics, nothing broken out of the box/home from the dealer, but some of the design choices & workmanship are electrical problems waiting to happen. The cable management is poor at best and the new charge port design is a really tight fit with the connector but they didn't reinforce the plastic part steering box where it plugs in so it flexes and feels like it could break, and on the back the wires come out and make a very sharp 90 which is just trouble.

IMHO though Elon just needs to start building lawnmowers.

The biggest issue with electric is service. Even under warranty, this is a big item. There are very few people and even less replacement parts should something go wrong.
$1200 cell phones are disposable and not serviceable, other than the screen. They've been out for 20 years, and still can't maintain a charge for an entire day.
Sometimes you just need to step back and see the whole picture. It will be 10 years before lawn services start using electric zero turns.
Even on the gas end of it, you have high end and junk. Guess what Ryobi is probably using for its wheel bearings, steering mechanisms, tires, gauge steel, suspension, and fastener grades.
Electric push mowers are popping up on CL and FBM, next to 15 year old Toro Recycler gas mowers. Guess which are holding their value? One is a toy, the other is a tool.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I agree some of these paid posts are shady from SD.

But $350 in savings is considerable. Even with a $4200 price tag.

The conversations here seem legit. I shared my experience on page 3. Actual experience, not me trying to boost the FP algorithm.

You always see ppl threadcrapping on threads that don't apply to them/ items they don't like.

SD is about getting a good deal on an item. Not about getting the best item for the job/ in the world.

Tired of the "TD that flavor is gross". Or "Td it's not brushless " comments.

If there's a Ryobi impact driver for $10 with battery, that doesn't make it a bad deal because it's not Milwaukee.

This is a good deal, price wise. Not amazing, but good. Worth the conversation with a savings of $350

I agree. I have been looking for 30-in version because of its compact design and because I have a big lot (bigger than average lots out there but not that big when comparing it with someone like some people who have 1/2 acre or so). I have been checking with Home Depot app everyday and saw this deal. That's why I posted it here. I have learned a lot about riding mower thanks to some great comments here. I do not work for Home Depot. In fact, I prefer to buy anything from Lowes than Home Depot if Lowes carries the same items as at Home Depot. Why? Lowes treats military and veterans way better than Home Depot.

Got a 1993 MTD riding mower from a friend for free last year with the Briggs I/C engine. I have been able to fix/adjust all the maintenance things (valve clearances, belts, carb, etc.) without too much issue. The only thing that has been giving me constant grief is ironically the battery. Without a trickle charger, that thing goes dead. The battery was brand new last year.

Also have a Toro 22 recycler which recently just needed a new self propelled belt. I don't mind the noise or smell of gas but also would not mind having a Ryobi 40v push mower to play with. I love battery tools, especially the Ryobi 18V for indoor stuff, however never really understood the people who cram the "gas is dead" spiel on others. In all fairness, I am a DIY type of person and like wrenching on stuff. For someone who isn't, I would also get battery to avoid all the hassle of maintenance. Just buy and replace when it breaks lol.
