First you set it up on your Microsoft Account (giving you Office/1TB OneDrive), and from there you can invite up to 5 other people to share with, allowing them to install Office Applications and get their own 1TB in OneDrive. (And you can manage those users later; for example you can later revoke 1 user, then invite a different one in their spot.)

Synology lets you set up multiple OneDrive accounts and once you set up all the individual OneDrive accounts (I have three right now) you just select the NAS folder you want to sync and the NAS handles all the rest.

I use 1 of the accounts solely for photos, another for document backup, another for home movies/videos.

Configuring it the first time was a bit annoying (had to plan ahead because even though I don't have 1 TB of photos, I think I will get close there eventually... RAW files are huge!) and I'm sure I could have initially got away with just using a single OneDrive account, I'm at around 1.75 TB on all three accounts now.

Once it is set up it literally is "set it and forget it". I don't even use the OneDrive app on my PC or Mac. The NAS is the only "client" that logs into OneDrive.

There was an earlier deal posted last month for the 1 user accounts for 26 dollars. You can buy those cards to increase your current subscription and do the first month of family on that account to flip previous time to family. I'll see if I can find the previous deal thread for some information.

Not as good as the non-family deal and then flip to family but really for the price and less hassle , pretty good overall.

Prob can resell the Norton code as well for 15 bucks or so.

Sit tight, NewEgg usually does better deals than this. I got two 15 month Family M365 subscriptions + AVG for 20 bucks back in Feb.

You have to set up 6 individual accounts. Initially it is a pain but once the accounts are set up it's not that much of an issue.

I shared 2 of 6 with family and use 4 accounts with my Synology NAS. Each account has 1 TB or storage. Not as good as a single 4TB account, but 4TB of real cloud storage from a major provider plus Microsoft Office for $70-$90 a year is a good deal in my view.
