"Breville has halogen filaments and splash shields around the filaments"

My last toaster oven had those, too, and I hesitated before buying the Toshiba because it didn't.

But I've found that the plain resistance elements heat about as quickly.

And the splash shields and halogen elements collect nastiness that is impossible to clean. The resistance elements wipe right off.

I bought this from Walmart.com in January. The quality is high and we use it all the time.

PS. Re. Air Fry:

I really can't tell the difference between the convection mode on the Toshiba and the air-fry mode on my oven when I use an air-fry basket in the Toshiba.

I have one and it works great. Literally use it everyday. The menus are easy to use and I like that it turns the burners off after the timer is done (my old one didn't so things got burned when I forget to take them out or don't hear the timer). It fits a 12" pizza, and the convection seems to work well for even baking. Checking temp with a IR temp gun seems to be pretty spot on to the setting. I wish it was a bit bigger, but it's size takes up less space than my old one which is nice. This is a great price. I got mine about a year ago for over $80.

Does this save the previous temperature used? Not that it is tough to turn a dial and set the temp but it would be more convenient. I'd like a digital screen one for sublimation stuff; I currently use my regular toaster/convection oven and it would be nice to separate the two uses.

It would be nice if they listed the internal dimensions

this has a convection feature, however it's a cooking type, and not a selection you can turn on or off. My mom and I have gone through 5 BOV800XL's over the past 10 years or so (3 were replaced by breville), but I can't justify spending that much on them anymore despite how much I love them.

Digital toaster oven? Does this mean I need to replace all my analog bread?

There are a lot of positive comments here but most of what I read online are negative (broken glass, warped crumb tray, overheat, etc). I don't know who to trust.

What are you talking about? The first positive comment I noticed came from a member with over 500 posts that signed up in 2004! Yeah, sure looks like a shill to me... NOT.

Buy it from target, they have a 90 day return policy. Don't like it, return it. I don't see any risk here.

Yes, it saves the last setting and temperature.

12.5" wide, 12" deep, ~7" between the top and bottom elements

Edit: You don't even need to press the on button. Rotating the time knob will wake it up. I really like how responsive the dials are; like one of the early iPods. It only takes a couple seconds to set it anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours.

I've had 2 Black + Decker toaster ovens (large). One lasted over five years and the second is over 6 years now and still going strong. We use the ovens 2-4 times per week.

The one in Amazon is $5 more after the coupon. The model number seems to be slightly different. Is this any better than the one sold in target?

Have this unit - got it on Amazon during Nov 2020 - can confirm that the crumb tray warps (already replaced once by Amazon). What's more do to design of the tray it's difficult to empty without tilting and spilling all the crumbs in the oven!

The included rack also has a wired cut in the rear and occasionally small things fall off at the rear of oven - quality is just okay but the design is poor. That said it functions well- just a pain to keep clean.

Does anyone have experience with the Panasonic Flash Express toaster oven vs this Toshiba? We've used our Panasonic unit for years, then replaced it with a newer version.

I have this. It's a bit of an oddball compared to most toaster ovens. But it's compact (you won't get a 12-inch pizza in there), and it heats up fast (no preheating), and cooks well. I actually make chicken wings in there and I love how they come out. Toasting bread could be a little more even, but it's not bad. The UI is completely nonstandard, but not hard to get used to. It made a list of best toaster ovens a few years back, and that's how I landed on it.
