I've been eyeing this garage door for awhile and it's finally on sale. Normally $245, now 20% off for $195 with free shipping or free store pick up. This garage door is CA compliant since it has a backup battery.

I also got the professional installation for an additional $87. Also not a bad deal considering quotes I got from contractors were $150 to $200 just for install.

CA requires a back-up battery because of wild fires. If you need to evacuate quickly, you'll want to use your car. Some people may only have an accessible car in the garage but if the power is out, how will they open the garage open? Yes, there's the emergency cord to manually open and close the door. But not many know about it, know how to operate it or even have the strength to operate it. Imagine your elderly parents in a panic trying to evacuate quickly and but don't have arm strength to pull on the emergency cord or not tall enough or the car is in the way of getting access to it. Then the real panic and irrational thinking starts to set in. But if the garage door can operate with just a backup battery in case of emergency, that's a great peace of mind to have for a little extra $. CA firefighters have found people who died in their garage trying to get out, especially the elderly. Hence the CA law requires backup battery.
Until your power goes out. It's my main entrance to my house. Power goes off while I am not there it gets tricky. It's happened more than once here in the midwest
This is what I use to install mine https://youtu.be/ekPy7w9UIdY

Just a follow up in case any one runs into similar issue with the remotes not working correctly. I did contact support and they were great to work with as mentioned. They shipped me a new logic board as well as a couple of new remotes. I tried programming the new remotes first with the existing install as this would be quickest fix if it worked, but the issues persisted. I then replaced the logic board and that fixed the problems. No more range issues and remotes work consistently now, whether inside the garage or from the street. Keypad outside garage works fine now as well. I'm still not sure why the Homelink remote in the car didn't have any issues before as I thought it would work on the same frequencies.

A note on my Home Depot third party installer. I purchased the opener and install package on the 5/24, installer called next day, scheduled, and installed on 5/27. Installer took about 2 1/2 hours, didn't use the instructions as it was unopened. He tried to use the existing sensor wires with the new sensors but had issues so had to run the new sensor wires. Then ran into issues with new wires because he damaged one of the wire when stapling it to the wall. I also took a look at the install once he left, he didn't remove the nut ring on the spring so I had to do that and he also didn't bend the tab up on rail. Not sure the tab is critical, but the belt definitely needed to have the nut ring on the spring removed as there was barely any tension on it.
I don't know if you looked into it but LED bulbs can cause range issues. My friend installed some LED bulbs on their unit and had a lot of intermittent controller issues. Then installed some LED bulbs on their supported list and the problem went away. https://support.chamberlaingroup....4145692747

Went through all the troubleshooting steps. No LED bulbs, just CFL bulbs. Also tried no bulbs, incandescent, unplugging everything in garage, shutting down power to side of house with garage and using just the battery in the opener. None of it made any difference until the board was replaced. Now it works just fine with new board. Must have gotten a dud. I guess that's what I get for grabbing the prettiest box at Home Depot instead of the first one. Kudos to their support though. Super easy to work with.
