Missed out when they had red and blue cause I waited too long. Never thought these would come back. 3DS and 2DS consoles getting up there in price so this is a great deal. Officially refurbished by Nintendo. $5 is flat rate so if you want to grab anything else like a Nintendo Switch Dock for $40, toys, plush, etc, this would be a good time.

I got both a year and half ago. The 2DS is no joke and I would take it over the new 3DS XL, which would be more than double the price. It lacks 3D screen, two shoulder buttons, 2nd joystick nub (which is often unusable), and newer CPU, but plays 99.9% of the games well and without worry. This includes all DS and most 3DS games, NES and GBA virtual console. Only things it can't play are a few games like Xenoblade, Binding of Isaac, and SNES virtual console.

EDIT: 2DS vs new 3DS XL differences also include:
- mono speaker vs stereo speakers
- easy to access full size SD slot vs hard to access micro SD slot
- smaller, sharper screens vs larger blockier screens (effectively same resolution...new 3DS XL has double horizontal resolution on top screen for 3D)
- no NFC/Amiibo vs built in Amiibo reader
- sleep slide switch vs sleep by closing clamshell

But again, this 2DS is great to natively play back library of thousands of DS and 3DS games, virtual console, or hacks to play even more like GB/GBC/GBA and NES.

EDIT 2: If you're a Pokemon junkie, you can officially play all (or almost all) previous generations of Pokemon. GB/GBA games are in eShop, you can play DS/3DS games on cartridge and I think you can transfer all Pokemon out of those games officially with the PokeBank app in the eShop and transfer them to the new Pokemon Home app on Switch and mobile. I don't have all the details, but this would let you carryover all previous Pokemon into Home officially.
keywords are "google", "do your own research"
It is objectively sharper since, again, it's the same resolution and smaller, so higher DPI. Regarding TN vs IPS panels, I never got into that and I would assume unless you had both next to each other, you wouldn't notice, and you definitely wouldn't notice while playing a game for an extended period of time.

Coming back for another edit:
what the previous person was talking about is the "IPS" screen lottery on the new 3DS XL. IPS screens are more highly sought after, with some versions like the Zelda edition, more likely to have IPS screens. This 2DS all have the same screens (really 1 big screen with plastic covering up to divide it into 2). I don't think it's it big deal to try to get an IPS screen, and you're not guaranteed to get any IPS panels even if you get a new 3DS XL and doesn't really affect what or how you play, but the hardcore 3DS people swear by the IPS screens.

I bought 1 for Mario and Zelda games. I'm open to any suggestions on must plays. The main selling point for me was the price, which seemed fair. I also trust their refurbished systems. I bought a refurbished NES Classic that looked nice.
I've been using 2DS/3DS on my journey to play some of the Zelda games. I'm a fan, but hardly finished any until Breath of the Wild on Switch.

You can play:
Zelda 1 and 2 through NES virtual console.
original Links Awakening DX through GB/GBC virtual console.
Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask remakes on 2DS/3DS.
A Link Between Worlds ("sequel" to Link to the Past) on 2DS/3DS.
Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages on GBC virtual console.
Minish Cap on GBA virtual console.
Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks (sequels to Wind Waker) on DS.

Other 2DS/3DS games to play:
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Maker
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon (part 2, also part 1 was ported over)
Detective Pikachu
Pokemon X/Y, Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby, Sun/Moon, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon
Metal Gear Solid 3
tons of Picross games

See the top rated games here: https://www.metacritic.com/browse...s/filtered

Some games have sequels on Switch (i.e. Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Maker 2), others were ported to Switch (i.e. Captain Toad, Hyrule Warriors), and most are exclusively only on 2DS/3DS.

Thanks for the recommendations. If there was 1 Zelda and Mario game you considered a must play, which ones would they be?

Super Mario 3D Land for 3D platformer or New Super Mario Bros 2 for side-scrolling platformer
Ocarina of Time for 3D Zelda or A Link Between Worlds for 2D Zelda

I have only played the Zelda games fully and sunk the most time into Majora's Mask, but I wouldn't recommend playing that before Ocarina of Time. A Link Between Worlds is shorter and is an original game, so that's a good choice, too.

Regarding the deal, I ordered 2 well after this was posted and they will be delivered tomorrow, so great shipping time.

Thanks! That helps alot. I definitely want to play Super Mario 3D Land. I've played the N64 version of Ocarina of Time. Does the DS version have new things to discover?

Well, the big change to Ocarina of Time 3D was the 3D, so that's not applicable here. The game was remade, not ported, so they were able to improve graphics. They also made minor gameplay changes, as well as adding Master Quest mode after finishing the game. Comprehensive list here: https://zelda.fandom.com/wiki/The...of_Time_3D

Just got my 2DS. It is BRAND NEW in a refurbished box. I've been buying refurbs my whole life and have never seen a mint product like this. Unused/unsold new stock for sure.

Also, firmware came with 8.1.0-19, which is from 2014. This color variant of the 2DS was released in 2016, along with including Mario Kart or New Super Mario Bros 2. Clearly they wiped it and put an old as dirt firmware that works and sent it.

Zero complaints. This deal was SLICK!

Edit: I would clean the brand new AC adapter. If you've ever wanted to know what formaldehyde smells like, take a whiff. Immediately took me back to working with cadavers.

Thanks for the update. Knowing very little about DS models, I didn't know how slick it was. Also, I believe Nintendo gives a 1 year warranty on it.

If it goes longer than 10 business days (not counting Saturdays), I would go to your local post office (depending on covid circumstances) with the usps tracking number and see if you can fill out a missing package report.
