It's been a little bit since I've been in my local Home Depot's tool aisle I guess, but Walmart advertises them as being their brand:

We provide quality tools with the DIY expertise to help any user no matter your skill level. Get inspired, learn new skills and stay connected to others with the #DoItWithHART community. You'll be amazed at all you can accomplish when you do it with HART. Only at Walmart and Walmart.com.

Hart is definitely not Walmart brand. Hart's parent company (TTI) also owns Milwaukee & Ryobi and many more known brands

Thoughts on this Hart set vs. a similar Kobalt set? Looks like the Kobalt has a few larger sizes in the set. Curious on quality. Not sure if I like the idea of a multi purpose ratchet handle in the Kobalt? Thanks.
Link for the Kobalt set. 64 pieces. $34.98 in my area (shows 15 off).

Just got these, not bad for under 30 dollars. Perfect if you just starting out and it's not heavy to carry with you for a small to medium job that don't require the bigger items.

I'm looking at building/buying a set for emergency use to store in CUV for long road trips this summer. I have spare 3/8" ratchets, just looking for sockets that don't skip sizes and a case. This looks like it would work, but can anyone comment on the real world feel of this case size?

My thoughts are this case has a lot of wasted space.
I'm thinking the DeWalt socket set (with case that was a hit this past BF season) or the Milwaukee socket set?
These are socket sets with cases but also come with ratchets.
Only other option is to build your own set of sockets from say - Harbor Freight?

Hart is also sold at Home Depot. What makes it a Walmart thing?
We got a lot of haters. Ask a simple question and get down voted. Ya make the learning process more difficult. I come here to seek knowledge from experts.

I've seen lots of good, sound, advice down voted here, repeatedly.
Basically, I just ignore the down votes. Sometimes they are legit down votes, but mostly they aren't.
I have gleaned a lot of knowledge here from all the comments I've read on many topics, and I have read a lot.
Yeah, I'm one of those who starts at the 1st post and follows through to the last post.
I'm amazed at how many readers / posters don't do that.

I've gone different ways - building my own tool "set" for the car based on my experience with the car (I know my TBSS requires certain tools/spares) and also buying a fairly complete but cheap set on it's own. Honestly, I've purchased the super cheapo HF tool sets when on sale for $30 or $40 and tossed it in the trunk of the various hoopties I've owned and been ok. It's nowhere near the quality of this, but it has almost everything you'd need - hex and allen wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc. and basic wrenches and sockets in metric and SAE. Would I like to tackle a complicated job with it? No - but I was able to repair my daughter's car in a parking lot a couple of times with it. I don't have to think "do I need this or do I need that" - just buy it, along with a good set of jumper cables, oil, paper towels, funnel, rubber gloves, a blanket, and you're done.

The combo 1/2" 3/8" 1/4" doesn't seem like a good concept, too bulky for situations that call for a 1/4" drive, and too short to apply the torque needed for 1/2" drive. The Goldilocks idea probably ends up frustrating in many cases.

Amazon has this 15" Crescent for $25.24, about half price. I think it's Chinese made, but on the high end of quality and suited for commercial use, and has 87% 5 star ratings. Pretty solid deal. Crescent is an Apex brand, which has excellent lifetime warranty replacement with just a phone call.

Just picked up this set, and the 3/8" ratchet is not 4 degree 90 tooth as they claimed, but it's actually a 72 tooth 5 degree. The 1/4" ratchet is the smaller step, so they're half right. Looks decent enough, I like the socket arrangement in the case that makes it easy to pluck out the right one. Better than the ones that grip them too tightly.

I Have never seen any Hart tools sold at any other store than Walmart or sold on online by any retailer other than walmart.
It's probly safe to assume you will be getting a walmart quality product either way it's not a bad price if it performs as intended

Did you wind up getting that Crescent 15" adjustable? I was wondering what your opinion of it is if you bought one.
