MSRP is only $10 so these things are basically just kids toys.

I work in a behavior health assisted living facility and we use these exact ones. They don't really want us using our cell phones
lmao, I hope personal medical information isn't being discussed over those.

Just so everyone knows, since we've been long enough in the cell phone era that people have different expectations of communications technology now: Anyone can hear you talking on these, and the "privacy code" features are hilariously mislabeled and do not do anything to protect your privacy. If you give these to your kids, it is rather easy for them to come in contact with random weirdos in your neighborhood (we have a cool guy who yells and curses at kids for using FRS around my neck of the woods, for instance). They are a nice tool to have, but it's important to understand that you have effectively zero control over who hears you or who can talk to you.

These used to be very useful on the ski slopes and woods before cell phone coverage became more prevalent.

Could be useful in Europe if you don't want to get cell service for a short period of time. But now most ski resorts have wifi all over the place.
About the only thing these talkies are useful for is for business, if you have multiple employees and need to communicate with them. Youre not going to call them one at a time on a cell.

We had great luck using Midland talkies which could work blocks away even in a congested area, 1/4 mile away. They even worked through concrete walls. But, those run closer to $50 a pop vs these.

Walkie talkies are often used by groups going on Jeep rides out in the mountains and wilderness near me. Virtually no cell service out there. Range usually sucks (especially if in the mountains), but at least works if you don't get too terribly far away from each other.

That being said, I wouldn't use these for that purpose.
