With all due respect, this is awful idea. Exposing your upper body to UV rays, mosquito's, scrapes and cuts, etc., for the sake of covering your head is a last resort, not a pro tip. Buy this hat, or some other version of protection and keep your shirt on.
Sunscreen is great for sure, but most of us need someone else to get the back, which isn't always possible, and it needs to be reapplied every couple hours to remain effective. It also doesnt help protect against mosquitos, afaik anyway, or cuts and scrapes. I won't get into the potential health hazards of certain sunscreens but not all are created equal and using some may be a creating an issue for you later in life.
As far being laughed at, that kind of person isn't worth being around anyways.

This post is about a fishing hat. Who said anything about surfing?
Ok I'll get out of here. I thought I'd share a tip. I don't see people in the US doing it so much and it's something I never did until I saw others doing it...
I was going to link to watermans sunscreen and see what you thought but it looks like it's been discontinued? Shit I really hope not!
You have any sunscreen recommendation now that my favorite brand seems to be gone?
It was tons of zinc and hard to put on all the surfers and life guards and such I know used it...
I feel like shirts don't really protect so much against mosquitos they'll just bite you elsewhere right?
I'm using a product by Solara. I think it's called clean freak. It's a mineral based (zinc) sunscreen. They make face and body options. I really like it but ymmv so definitely do some research.
They can but you'll have way better odds at wack-a-mole with a shirt on than off, and less real estate to monitor 👍

I have something similar to this and you 100% need to wear sunscreen on your face with this because the face part is mesh unlike the majority of the hat. Mesh meaning holes so the sun gets in and you'll get burned.

I'm kind of tempted to buy a hat. It does look interesting but looks like it would also get the job done. I'm already married so not worried about the "good looks" part, lol.

I'm not qualified to make a recommendation, but as a suggestion, I'd try to find something that has zinc as it's only active ingredient.

Anyone have any experience to share about THIS hat?
Sizes, quality, company rep, etc?
(Sorry to interrupt the sunscreen, t-shirt origami discussion)

Good list:

Bad list:
https://www.valisure.co
Note some brands and very similar products are on both lists. I had to check UPCs on some of ours (thankfully, both ended up being on the good list).
