Have been looking to pick another one of these up for a great price. I already have one and use it near constantly as a DYI enthusiast. This will be great when going back and forth between torx, square, phillips etc... as I commonly am using more than one at a time for a lot of projects.

Excellent impact, can't recommend it enough... if you already have batteries, $57 is a deal and a half.

Not really you can get 5ah for that usually. $10 per Ah is usually a good deal

Care to actually explain about the "tool only" hack?

EDIT: This makes sense in the context of the vague original post but not the front page version. (Added for the benefit of those TDing the comment.) 🙂

No, they were 39.99 new from Amazon for a long time. $48 is good compared to MSRP; but with the subcompact kits being $149.99 off and on at Amazon and those having x2 2.0ah batteries I wouldn't pay more than $40 at this point.

Ordered this 3 weeks ago and hacked the tool only for $76. Anyone have experience with price matching or should I just return and re-buy?

Where did this $10/ah threshold come from?

Have we ever seen a 2ah Makita battery anywhere close to $20?

It's an unofficial rule of thumb especially in the gray market. Can't say I've seen a makita 2ah that low but definitely Milwaukee and DeWalt (usually with hacks)

I only see tool only, or a tool and 2 battery kit ($300+) where does the free battery show up? At checkout?

It's this kit:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...0DER&psc=1

It's at MSRP now but drops to $149.99 at least once every week or two.

Home Depot is clearancing it out in store at $199.99 and will probably drop more in the future.

There is a new subcompact bundle on the horizon, or at least that's what I heard.

Anyways I wouldn't pay more than $40 (new/open box) for a 2.0ah battery and that's only if I needed it right away. People have been parting out the 5.0ah 36V kits and selling 5.0ah for $50. That being said the 2.0ah is a lot slimmer and lighter

Add the bare tool, it should show in cart at 105.xx then search "Makita 2.0ah 18V battery" and add just the battery. They should then prorate the prices on each so the total stays at $105.xx

It appears HD played with the listing and inventory must be getting low, shipping is not available for the impact driver, store pickup only

You generally don't buy the Makita 2ah battery for the $/ah (i.e. capacity bang per buck), you buy it for the compact size/weight.

You can use $/ah metric for the 3/4/5/6ah Makita batteries, as they are all the same physical size. But the true value provided by the 2ah battery is maneuverability/weight due to physical formfactor.
