This has been available for as long as the 18V 4.0ah kit + bare tool has been live; at least a month now but it has been in and out of stock.
I have experience with a lot of different tool systems and it feels like Makita has abandoned their 12V line. I would go Milwaukee if you're looking to stay in something that has constant deals.

I bought the Makita 12 volts Drill Driver,Impact Driver kit, 2 batteries, charger, and contractor bag for $76 bucks. Fhis is not the same kit. The Makita is little more powerful than the brushed Milwaukee but love that Milwaukee Fuel tools.
