Yep. The majority of my damaged in transits sets have been Lego.com....including the Falcon.
Yeah, it's really crazy how big of a variance it is. I've also received straight from Lego.com, sets that are beautifully double boxed and arrived in pristine shape, even in the US. It seem like it's hit or miss. You would think the actual manufacturer would want to protect their larger sets by double boxing them carefully and insisting that they ship them carefully.

Anyone else have their order total come up wrong? I placed my order and realized after the fact that the total price was $794.99 instead of the $749.99 that it should have been. I contacted them just now, but won't hear anything back for a bit. It showed the discount code on the receipt, but only took the free shipping ($4.99) off the total.

TLDR - Check your final totals people!

If you are reading this thread you are already crazy, no need for a set this size to put you there.

$750 for a Lego Falcon. I cannot wrap my head around that. The pics look like my 10 year old self would love the thing though.

That's better than when I ordered the Castle directly from Lego and it arrived through Fedex in a cardboard box about 1.5 times as big as the set, loose in there and sliding around with hardly any cushioning!😤 It, of course had a smashed in corner where it was dropped somewhere along the line. This was in the US. When I lived in Japan I used to get Lego sets direct from Lego, double boxed and shipped and received in pristine condition.
Same here. I sent the first one back...the second wasn't much better. LEGO can afford a bit better packaging than they're giving.

If you click on the link about copy code and open site, it doesn't apply the coupon directly. it says the code on the page but its not applied. so when I click preorder, I paste the code into the coupon cox and THEN tit takes the $50 off.

No, I know - I typed the code in manually on the site before checkout. The coupon code and -$50 shows on my receipt and on my order history on the site, but it didn't calculate right. It took off $5 (the free shipping amount) instead of $50.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I went back through checkout again to verify and there was exactly $45 in tax, so the total was correct at $794.99. I just thought it was a mistake because it matched up with the free shipping amount and the tax wasn't itemized on the receipt or order status page.

What was the word on zavvi? I know I've seen them pop up before but I've never bought anything from them. Reliable? Positive experience?
I ordered Mjolnir from there. I picked it up no problem so obviously my review is worthy.

In for one. I was bummed when I thought it was discontinued end of 2020 and flippers started to push the prices up to around $1200 or so. Because of Covid, Lego is extending it for a little longer. I'm planning to keep this one myself but I do know how crazy discontinued lego sets can cost. I had the previous MF set for around $300 and that one went over $5k.

Even adjusting for inflation I couldn't imagine saying "Mom and Dad, can I have $750 for a Lego set?"

And even if I did, they'd say 'Are you kidding? That's 3 mortgage payments!"

How is this thing msrp at $800? $800?!??! I have a three foot long star trek enterprise from mega blocks that I bought on sale for $125. Mega blocks is proof Lego is screwing you. I would love to sneak a peak at their margins. Cha ching!
I didn't know toys like this were priced by the foot. The set you are talking about has 945 pieces. This has 7500. You paid 13.2 cents per piece. At $800 MSRP this is 10.6 cents per piece.

I've used Zavvi 2 times now and have been extremely pleased with the price and the the shipping speed from the the UK (less than 2 weeks).

I will say I got this set at the last Amazon Black Friday week madness sales (after staying up over night) and paid $511.31 but that was a once in a lifetime deal.

Current Amazon price is >$1000 so this is a good deal today.

The set is awesome. It took weeks to build (several hours a day). Warning, it is a little delicate and has lots of small details that do not make it good for handling (rough play). Make sure you have somewhere to put it as it is HUGE.
I got two that day
