Since trying the version that auto adjusts to the cable, I cannot go back to use these wire strippers

If you use them often it become second nature. I don't even look at mine, just instinctively know where the correct size it. Also, I'm generally doing repetitive jobs when wiring, wiring in a row of switches, plugs, etc. So 9 times out of 10 I'm using 12 or 14 gauge. So that makes it pretty easy.
Also, I've always found those auto strippers to be prone to issues. My buddy has a pair (former electrician) which seems to always work but if I remember correctly he said they were like $120. (Don't remember the brand)
I don't do enough wiring to spend more than $10 as using a standard stripper has never bothered me. (I probably wire 2 houses a year or that equivalent)
With that said, I did have a guy rewire a vw bug for me once. I pulled the new loom and he came and hooked it all up. He used an auto stripper on those small gauge wires and it did great. (Didn't appear to be anything special) I could see the benefits there as he was moving really fast and primarily working in one area. (Under hood and engine compartment)

How is this different/.better than the HF wire stripper that's currently $3 w/coupon (https://www.harborfreight.com/7-i...8410.html) - Really, they look practically identical, but wondering if someone who actually owns & uses these (and possibly the HF's as well) can speak to the Southwire's having superior materials/fitment/finish/durability relative to the HF's?- something along those lines to justify triple the price.

Have used the HF for a couple year on many projects. Car, motorcycle, home, small solar, gate opener... The largest project was replacing a 50 year old Zinsco 200 amp panel. The best part of that job was selling those old Zinsco breakers for more than it costs to buy the new panel, mast and a couple extra breakers,

My Lowes had this set of strippers for $6.79.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Southwir...s/50434380

They have yellow handles vs. red and the gauge (sizes) 6-12awg vs 10-18awg but they fit my general needs better.

I always lose my strippers.. i bought the irwins awhile back and instantly hated not having a return spring.

These should do nicely. Tbh i prefer the manual kind as i find the auto strippers to be bulky and cumbersome in tight spaces and on short leads.

Electrical boxes, projects and such id much prefer a slim device i can stick in my belt or w.e not to mention its lighter.

Maybe if im at a bench wiring all day but if im on a ladder, or in awkward positions moving around or tight spaces. Manual ftw
