Those prefilters are the outside sleeves and main particle/carbon filter lasts about 6 month per manual. OEM filter costs ~$80 so ~$160 per yr. Filter cost is definitely on the expensive side compared to some other brands that last ~1 yr on $70-80 OEM filter.

Wonderful opportunity to get into highly rated BlueAir brand, but this particular model is not rated by Consumer Reports. Also it may not be shippable to CA, so double check before you quest to buy!

Seeing a lot of comments about this unit having a smell to it. I want an air purifier to specifically put in home gym to eliminate smells. Does anyone have recommendations for air purifier specifically for smells?

Anyone have a real world comparison between this and the Winix at Costco? Debating waiting for the Winix to go back down to $99 on sale like it does every few months. Want to use it for our downstairs that's a fairly open area and around 600-700 sq ft.
