Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.

Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

I'll buy the volt for 20k. Otherwise, too expensive for any EV or hybrid. I'll stick to my 2010 Toyota Camry

Unfortunately; EV's are rooted in 'dirty' power origin. Look for tech like hydrogen to be the sustainable option in some European and Scandanavian countries.

I love reading all the ridiculous dealer stories. I wonder when they will finally figure out that they would sell more cars if buying one wasn't such a PITA.

Not that I'm in the market, but out of curiosity, what would it cost to buy outright, with financing, with the most common options but nothing too fancy, and with incentives, rebates and subsidies included? Unless and until they can get these to under $25k and preferably $20k, as well as develop a robust national recharging and repair network, it's going to continue to be a niche if slowly growing market. And I'm someone who'd like my next car to be an EV or at least hybrid.

Btw, how viable is it for a decent amateur home mechanic to maintain one of these, who is capable of doing most repairs on traditional internal combustion engine vehicles?
EVs have way fewer moving parts and points of failure because it is just a motor and a battery instead of a full internal combustible engine. No oil, no fire, etc.

People don't realize hydrogen will need to made… using energy. Then, it needs to be transported to all these hydrogen fuel stations… using energy. It's not as great a solution as people think.

The best thing about electricity is you can charge at home eliminating all this wasted land used for gas stations. We do need charging stations, but it would require only a fraction of the land used for gas/oil.

Many of the dealerships (at least here in California) are out of the 2021's and are getting ready for 2022's. If you find one, most likely it's the base Bolt without fast charging. With all the incentives, you're looking between $6,000 - $7,600 one-pay for 3-year lease vs. $3,800 back in March. 2022's will launch with 0 incentives.

Agreed... there's barely any stock. Dealers were trying to dump as many cars as possible in March to be ready for 2022. This deal is more for the scraps.

Can you please share details on the discounts applied to get that price? That's a steal and I would jump on that if it's available.

If anyone is able to help me purchase or lease a bolt in Nevada I'd greatly appreciate it. I spent an entire month, a few hours a day, trying to get a reasonable price when this offer was here last time and it didn't work out. The dealership actually asked me to come in for "The best shot" to get me to my price then offered me 25% higher than we had negotiated over the phone.
Send an email to each place you would go to (few hours away). I did this for my wife with a Kia Optima. Only ~4 of 20 places replied, but I got a great deal on the exact car she wanted. Required no bs at all. The paperwork just said "out the door price $xxxxx" Nothing was filled in for the car price, taxes, fees, etc.
Their financing ended up being awful - essentially cancelling out much of the incentive if we had taken it to full term, but we just paid it off in less than a year to minimize the interest.

------------------------------------

I am looking to buy a 2021 Chevy Bolt with ____ package . I have already been to a dealership and driven this car. I am ready to make a purchase and am now just looking for the most competitive price. I am looking to complete this by the end of the month.

I have ~XXX credit score and am planning to finance through the dealership. I see this car would qualify for _______ bonuses or incentives.

I want the car to have the ____ interior and ____ exterior, but other options are acceptable.

If you have any matching inventory, please send me an itemized "out-the-door" price for your best offer to make this sale happen through your dealership. Include taxes for STATE, ZIP.
(also shipping if very far)

I'm a Chevy dealer in Georgia and we have been doing these deals the last few months. We sold 16 bolt EVs this month so we are out and waiting for the 22 EV and EUV to come out which will have a $1000 Costco savings.

Looks like no one was able to replicate the old deal: 4 yr lease at $130 per month.

Looks like if you had bought today you would have had a great deal if you combined it with the 3,000 customer bonus cash.
If they don't renew the 3k and 2k customer bonus cash it seems like it would have been a better deal before the costco 3k.

Still on factory brake pads on my 120k mile Tesla. The regenerative braking slows down the car a lot when you aren't on the accelerator. Not much maintenance except for a half dozen times i need to take the car to the repair shop because of electronic issues. Like the car not recognizing the key fob, etc, etc.
