Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.

Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

I love reading all the ridiculous dealer stories. I wonder when they will finally figure out that they would sell more cars if buying one wasn't such a PITA.
If you like reading these stories, you can't go wrong reading https://www.carbuyingtips.com/ (carbuyingtips . com) Some of the scams are funny, unless you become a victim. The website is full of humor. Eg: Finance managers are called "Lie-nance" managers.

Many of the dealerships (at least here in California) are out of the 2021's and are getting ready for 2022's. If you find one, most likely it's the base Bolt without fast charging. With all the incentives, you're looking between $6,000 - $7,600 one-pay for 3-year lease vs. $3,800 back in March. 2022's will launch with 0 incentives.
The last time this happened I couldn't even get close to $7600 one pay in SoCal in April. Was a huge waste of time talking with dealers and have no inclination to believe it won't be worse now.

Even junkers and older used cars? We have 2 cars we hope to sell soon, one a '92 in so-so shape, the other a '10 in decent but not optimal shape.
Pretty much. I unloaded a 09 Odyssey last week for over $4k with little trouble to a dealer and it needed at least 3k worth of repairs to make it a reliable Honda again. First time in my life, I felt I got more for a trade than what it was worth to me.

Can you please share details on the discounts applied to get that price? That's a steal and I would jump on that if it's available.
You're not going to get that price, it's long gone and only was available in March when this first started.

People don't realize hydrogen will need to made… using energy. Then, it needs to be transported to all these hydrogen fuel stations… using energy. It's not as great a solution as people think.

The best thing about electricity is you can charge at home eliminating all this wasted land used for gas stations. We do need charging stations, but it would require only a fraction of the land used for gas/oil.
You mean energy, as in solar energy, wind energy and hydro energy? If only we knew where to find them!

Most electric cars use liquid cooling for battery temp maintenance, so the car will have a coolant pump and radiator w/fan, just like an ICE with essentially the same purpose.
Thanks. I didn't know that and had to google it. Do the motors or regenerative brakes need some sort of cooling?

I believe it's the coolant but I believe it's for the liquid cooling of keeping the battery at the proper temperature. I'll have to look it up. Mine is at 70k so I'm a bit a ways from needing to get it done.

https://my.chevrolet.com/content/...hedule.pdf

It is a coolant at 150k.
That's a far cry from every 2 years or ~15-30k miles. So, it also needs a water pump and thermostat, hoses, radiator, temp sensors, I assume there's a heater core to tap off it, so that whole subsystem is very similar to ICE cars.

Am really interested but I can't get a handle on all the recalls and related fires. Has there been an actual fix for this?

Wow. I assumed I'd be lucky to get much more than $2k for my 2010 Kia Rio but I've been making repairs and doing maintenance work on it so maybe $3-4k isn't too much of a reach. I wonder which repairs make sense in terms of resale value and which don't. Obviously ones needed for the car to be driven safely fall outside of that consideration, but I've got that covered. I'm talking new struts if the old ones are still basically working, new brake hoses even if the old ones are ok, etc. I've already replaced a bunch of maintenance parts, pads and rotors, wheel bearings, tie rods, plugs, etc.
