Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.

Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

No in the market for Bolt, but, in the market for a new vehicle and the ID4 and Model 3 and RAV4 Prime are all interesting options. My question for you, when it comes to road trips and charging, are there standard plugs in these vehicles or converters or they all need their own stations to charge? I see there are different charging networks and sometimes I see charging stations at different shopping plazas and such, but it's not clear to me if only certain stations work with certain cars? I think Tesla is only for Tesla, but how about all the rest?

I do know there are different charging rates and that depends on the vehicle AND the charging station, but again, if I'm driving somewhere a bit far from home and need to top up, what's it like? Do you get stuck somewhere for hours, possibly waiting for a station to free up? Etc?
They all have standard plug called J1772, except Tesla. Even Tesla supplies an adapter so that they can be charged at other charging stations. I got a bolt lease last Feb, and its been a very good vehicle, with 0 maintenance. Regular charging takes lot of time. The usual 110-120V plug takes about 2.5-3 days to fully charge the car. I went ahead and bought a Siemens 240V charger, installed it in the garage. Now it takes about 7-8hrs to fully charge the car. I did not charge using the DC fast charging(which is what used by many charging stations), but I expect the charging time to be very little.

Not all models have DC fast charging, so please double check before you buy. Mine is a 2020 premier and comes standard with it.

What was the quoted selling price before any rebates and incentives? If you want a good deal on one of these you'll need to shop around and find a dealer willing to give additional preincentive discount. Check to see if you qualify for any of the other supplier programs (Educator, College, First Responder, see if your employer qualifies, etc). If you have another lease in your household or own a GM vehicle that can help too.

People who are comparing these to Tesla, BMW, Audi, or really any of the other electric vehicles, have never driven one of these. I bought a 2020 Premier for 23k last year as a company vehicle and it has not held up well in the 8k miles I used it.

The driving experience is dull, the seats are flat and uncomfortable, it is very slow and top heavy, the charging rate sucks, the tech sucks, the whole interior is cheap and noisy.

This is nothing like a model 3. This is closer to an electric golf cart than a Tesla. Without the tax incentive, buy a mustang mach E for 35k after tax incentive.
Can you please explain how your car has "not held up well"? Are you unable to charge, battery capacity dropping, brakes went out and you crashed...

I will tell you, I drove an i3 and it sucked. I could not point out anything better it provided over a bolt for double the price tag. O wait, I am getting that fancy logo on the car.

I will say the seats are not the best but everything else you stated is incorrect. The car charges just fine. I have yet to use a DC charger but I have read you can get about 0-80% in an hour. I can charge mine overnight at my house and never is a problem (you will need a better charger though) Not sure what tech you are expecting at 20K but it has apple play, a big ass screen, rear camera, blind spot warning, heated seats/steering wheel, cant stay in my lane warning, someone stopping in front of me warning, pretty sure I cannot name a feature I am missing. It is also funny you think it is slow but hey go test drive it yourself people.

Stop shitting on the car because it is not a luxury item. People know what they are getting when they are buying a Chevy. There is a reason everything has different price points. If you would rather spend double or more on a tesla, have at it.

Agree with this post. Used this deal to get my Bolt lease back around Halloween and I love it. Test drove a Tesla, but didn't seem worth the substantial price difference to me. 90% of my driving is within 25 miles of where I live (thanks to COVID I've put only like 2.5k miles on it since purchase) but it has been a pleasure to drive and can certainly get moving if you need it to.

As far as DC fast charging is concerned, do I wish it was faster? Sure. But it does a pretty solid job going from 20% to 80% charge in about 45 to 50 minutes, and I only have to worry about that on the occasional long trip. As others have noted, charging overnight is straightforward and is typically done in 8 hours or so depending on your set up (with a level 2 charger, using the dinky 120v one that comes with the car will take days, I do not recommend that if your situation allows).

I don't think I'm ever going back to an ICE.

I am in NC, can you share the dealer details and the deal to see if I can get on the same. Looking for a commuter EV that is not expensive, open to lease as well.
I'm in NC to and would like to know the details for this. Looking for a EV car to replace my 14 year old gas sedan. Don't want the expensive ones for local commute.

Not that guy but my problems on my 2017 I've had for six months....my back power locks stopped working, my GOM is broken since first recall, and my hilltop reserve doesn't work. It gets reset while the car is off. I also had a beep while the car was off every 5 minutes or so. I think I fixed it in settings and I'm guessing it's connected onto the hilltop reserve resetting but I'm not certain. Something about it losing power maybe. I'll be taking it back to dealer next week to see about fixing the issues. If it's too expensive I'll probably sell or trade it back in for something new.

Really can't stand how GM won't just lower the cost of the car. Taxes are double here because you pay them on full price of the car. Any other dealer would just lower purchase price but not GM with these stupid rebates. Was offered an LT for 23.3k yesterday and OTD it would have been almost 28k.

That said this car is fun to drive and I'd probably get another if the price is right.

Sure, it charges at 55kw at DC max, I never got any higher. Which isn't fast at all. Home charging is slow at 25 miles per minute on a 60a breaker (model 3 does 44 miles/hr).

No wireless android auto/apple car play. A back up camera with the resolution of a potato, super narrow tires that make it noisy and terrible a road holding and inclement weather performance. The seats are cracking, the buttons are wearing off, and the power lift gate is going slower and slower.

The car has a 37k dollar MSRP. That isn't cheap. If you don't care about driving experience, interior quality, range, and don't harshness, this is a cheap person mover.

To compare, a 37k dollar Bolt vs a 39k Tesla, is a night and day difference. Not even comparable. 5 star dining vs drive through.

I'll wait and buy one used when they get around $15k. Right now my 2014 plugin hybrid Ford is doing fine and I only have 34,000 miles on it.

We just bought one from a local dealer. They had a 9K rebate and 4K rebate, bringing the cost down to 25K for the non-Premier. We could have gotten a better deal if we were willing to drive 3-4 hours, maybe. Really love the car. Fun to drive, decent storage. It looks like a normal little hatchback/wagon, but it's pretty quick because it has 200 hp/266 ft/lb of torque that is available instantly instead of waiting for rpms to build from an ICE engine. When we drove it home from the dealer, we left the lot with 140 miles of range and when we got home, had 143 miles. Depending on traffic or temps outside, you might go 15-20 miles and lose only a few miles of range or even gain range. Now, you aren't going to see that on the highway as there isn't going to be much regenerative braking.

Normally I wouldn't even consider a Chevy, but they were the pioneers of electric cars and it shows with the Bolt. If you look at forums and online reviews, there are people who have driven 100K miles and only had to rotate tires/change tires. The consensus seems to be it's a very reliable, fun to drive car with very few problems. Meanwhile, Tesla is next to last in reliability out of 25 brands, and the online reviews constantly speak of build quality problems.
