Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.

Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

Or get a hybrid then forget all about charging, timing, planning.

Once you get to ur destination, what make you so sure you wont need to drive to somewhereelse? (Food? Bar?)
Or maybe we stop supporting the half assed measure that are hybrids and make charging infrastructure/hardware better?

Hybrids are the worst of both worlds and have been shoved down our throats as a stop-gap.

How about we only post about the deal, not our personal opinions on electric vehicles or related issues?

A couple of things... Check your state for rebates on the Home Level 2 charger, also check State on EV/BEV rebates. There also might be clean energy rebates too. If you do a state Google search for EV Car Calculator it might be helpful too. This will give you a realistic idea on the true cost. Good luck. As EV/BEV gain popularity the rebates will dissappear. I would also check PlugPV to see thr available chargers at your local area.

I dunno... seems like a bad call with the newer, much improved 2022 Bolt coming out soon. And, used cars with low miles are like $15,000 or less.

Damn, that person used that car the way you should before you! Glad to see it holds up pretty well with resell value. I remember the leaf I leased back in the day literally became worthless in a few years.

Because you are paying 3 fold for that slightly faster charge option that will probably only benefit you a couple times a year. So you are comparing the Bolt to the large battery Tesla.. If I am not mistaken, I think those are over 60K unless you got some deal which is rare on Tesla. 300 is out of the range for a Bolt but almost anywhere you go, you will be there longer then 45 minutes especially if you are driving that far. But hey, if you make that drive everyday then clearly the bolt is not for you and honestly EV is probably not the best option at all.
Please do not even bring the Model S into this discussion. Really glad you got your seats replaced. I got the LT with all premium features besides the seats and wheel upgrade to save about 3K. Kind of glad I have cloth seats if that becomes a major issue.
Bolt, Starting at 38K. Model 3 Starting at 39K

That is the comparison.

The model S was 82k. Not the same. I get that. Just pointing out that a fast charging solution is important for everyone who doesn't want to or cannot charge at home.

Like me, who has a charger at home, and a level 2 at work, and has people using the vehicle all over town, and wants them stopped a little as possible to charge, so stopping at a DC fast charger for 1.5 hours is a large down time, especially when I pay by the hour, have tight deadlines and schedules.

I have people wearing service belts getting in and out of the vehicle, I suspect they worn the seat very quickly, although, the part that would have been touching the seat was the loop soft velcrow.

I replaced the Bolt with a Explorer until the F150 Lightening is delivered.

Be careful with these. There has been multiple battery related fires linked to the Bolts. Supposedly, only in previous models (Trust isn't easy to come by these days though)

One meticulously owned Bolt, even after taking his car in for recalls and updates, went up in flames in his garage. This owner worked in IT and was very familiar with lithium ion battery care. Very sad.

I plan on buying an EV for my next vehicle, but I'll think twice before buying GM

Leasehackr.com is an invaluable resource for finding good lease deals. Hyundai has a lot of good deals, got an offer for 2020 EV Ioniq for $0 DAS, $149/mo, 36/10k

Since you're so smart why don't you answer my question? Is this deal valid at ANY Chevy dealer as it says in some places or only "authorized" or "participating" ones? I'm reading it as you can get the $3000 at "any" dealership but you can combine with additional incentives (aka Costco pricing) only at "authorized" or "participating" ones.
Yes, I am smart. You are just lazy.

The Costco discount is SUPPOSED to be limited to the dealers who participate in the Costco Auto buying program. However, being a free competitive market, there is nothing preventing a non-Costco dealer from matching/beating the Costco discount. I know Costco members who have tried to get dealers to beat the Costco pricing; most were unsuccessful. A few, were successful; BUT the effort, time, and annoyance to achieve that was NOT worth it for them at the end of the day.

NOT all dealerships want to participate in the Costco program b/c they are supposed to adhere to the terms when dealing with Costco members: no haggling, pre-set LOW pricing for vehicle and whatever options member wants, Costco discount unique to Costco member via Costco Auto Buying program, provide invoice to member always (doesn't have to be requested), and a designated employee to deal w/ Costco referrals. When dealers adhere to the terms of participation, Costco members have a good purchase experience. But, as Post #52, pg4, shows, there are BAD participating dealerships, unfortunately. A member can complain to Costco, but Costco will wash their hands of any responsibility b/c the Auto Buying program is managed by a 3rd party.

Screen shots of the steps should appear. NOT that difficult to click the Costco Auto buying link, enter your zip code, select Chevy or click the Chevy banner ad.
1) ENTER zip code
2) CLICK visit external link.
2b) A NEW WINDOW OPENS. SELECT Chevy or CLICK the Chevy banner
3) CLICK Get Started 2020/2021 Bolt
4) ENTER info into the fields.

Was that so hard?

Curious why you even consider electric with that much driving. I feel like zero down time would be needed. I will say the F150 looks solid but once again, you are probably shelling out over 50K because I am assuming you got the long range one. At least you get the federal $7,500 credit on this purchase though LMAO

You keep comparing the Bolt at 38K.... Like I get the MSRP is a joke and I do not recommend the car if you are not getting it for 20-25K range. As for the Tesla, the one you were comparing above for your usage was definitely not 39K. Willing to bet it was closer to 60K but I am sure you know what you paid.

This whole thread was created to help people get a Bolt for sub 25K. I do not think anyone will recommend buying the car above 30K.

I fully expect something like this to happen fairly soon. Not to get into the politics of it and regardless of the politics of folks here and their views of all this and related issues, but if they're serious about infrastructure and a green economy, they're going to have to do something like this, if not even bigger, to get people to switch to EV or hybrids, to create more jobs here, and to meaningfully transition to that green economy. I'd say this regardless of my political persuasion and whether I agreed with such policies or not as it's pretty much a given. They HAVE to go big, or they go home (they might go home even if they go big, but that's a different matter).

Bottom line, I'm betting on a massive push towards EVs and hybrids over the next few years that will bring out more, newer and better models at more affordable prices and with a better charging and repair infrastructure to support it. My next car's going to be an EV or hybrid. So are many peoples'.
Have you looked at the Kia Niro? I bought one in late 2018 and it's a hybrid and pretty good. Usually get 48 mpg on summer and around 37 on winter.

Not sure if I would invest in another hybrid or EV as I too expect better models to come out.

Edit: they have Niro EV as well. But not familiar with range etc..
