Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.
Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)
Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)
$325/ month.

Cars have gotten very expensive... Like I said, my buddy got a 2021 LT for 26,500 all in (tax included) without a trade so that means he got the car for about 24,000... Idk what cars you're looking at but it's definitely better than a 24k comparable car. Especially when you consider the gas savings and performance. I buy a new car every year and a half, I'm not new to this. BTW if you want the best resale value in a car go buy a Dodge Charger or Challenger with the 6.4L. I traded both of my two previous 6.4L Dodges for more than I paid for them brand new. Basically a free car.
It should be noted that the Bolt has a limited top speed of 92 miles an hour.
And technically people are trading in 2018/2019 bolts to carvana/boost for 21-22k, and just spending a grand or so to upgrade to the 2021 for the 10% range increase.
Its nutts out there folks...
thanks
Cybertruck. LOL cancel that and reserve a Ford Lightning.

Why would someone have paid more for my used Dodges instead of buying the same car new for less? lol
Doesn't make sense
thanks
It would be interesting to see what the P/L is. IOW, they might hoodwink some people into paying more by playing games, but how many people do they turn off *for life* in the process?
Off the top of my head I have 2 dealerships I will never deal with again simply because they tried their gaming bullshit with me. There are plenty of other dealers in driving distance that sell the EXACT same cars without the runaround games and general douchebaggery. the story might be different if they were the only dealer for hundreds of miles or something (they could get away with being assholes).
so yes DO shop around but be aware of those small benefits. 0.25% isn't going to mean much over the life of the loan, but it's something.

People always say look at carvana or tesla as "how to sell a car" but like if you walked into a dealer and just paid asking price like you do with tesla or carvana you're gonna have the easiest transaction in history.
It's a game on both sides of the deal. Dumb people who have no options pay more and the rest of us can wait for the deal, no pressure.
Stop pretending that a once in a lifetime thing in Texas (that was a result of silly green ideals anyways) is in anyway close to as bad as California having consistent rolling blackouts as a matter of policy. You're told it has to do with fire prevention but it's also to do with the lack of power generation you have available during period of high heat when people are using air conditioning.
The point REMAINS that unless you support nuclear there is ZERO chance of a functioning all-electric society. And California is further behind than most because you're killing off nuclear.
Yes, CA has rolling blackouts because of transmission issues but not because generation. Building nuclear plants isn't going to solve transmission. Distributed grid is a better solution.

The 2 dealers in mind are:
- One that seems high and mighty always telling me they have the best price ("highest volume dealer") and if I find it cheaper "there's something wrong with the car". Yes they've literally said that on 2 different purchases when they were high by $2k+.
- Another that I was dealing with via email and after a few days of back and forth wouldn't give me an itemization - very simple, price of car, trade in, bullshit fees, etc.
I do all my "negotiation" online - there are 10+ dealers for most major makes within an hour's drive, all their cars are made in the same places. Besides considerations about if I had to drive to a dealer for service, it shouldn't make a difference where I buy a car other than price, especially since I bring my own financing most of the time. Even in 2021 you'd be surprised at the $$ spread on a brand new car between dealers. Literally 10% in some cases FOR THE SAME DAMNED CAR.

Navy federal is 1.79% for 36 months, 2.19 for 60 months.
How much do you finance. I never put any money down. The best rate I ever got was 2.01% about 8 years ago on a 2013 Dodge Charger (again for 72 months).

'17 owner here. Love it. 6 out of 65,000. I'll take my chances.

Yes, the well-hated BoA. 1.97% net (incl discount) for 5 years on ~ $24k; the only down I put was the balance on my trade in which was about $7k IIRC.

It's very hard to compare. there are something like 287MM cars on the road in the US alone, avg age = 12 years, and many VERY old, fixed in various ways (how many EV's are 30 year old cobbled together junkers?)
The Bolt issues are the battery spontaneously catching fire, whereas I'd wager the vast vast majority of ICE fires are from accidents.
Again, difficult to compare EV's, which are very new to the scene, say ~ 10 years or so in earnest. That is, the average ICE on the road is probably as old as the very first Tesla roadster [britannica.com], to put it in perspective.
