The price was inflated because of the tax credit. Tesla did the same thing. As soon as it ended they dropped the price. Chevy is just keeping the MSRP and giving it as an incentive. The LT is less of a good deal but the fact remains that for a car like the Premier where you can get it for 30k or less, that's a good deal. The thing is very well equipped and does 0-60 in about 6 seconds...

Cars have gotten very expensive... Like I said, my buddy got a 2021 LT for 26,500 all in (tax included) without a trade so that means he got the car for about 24,000... Idk what cars you're looking at but it's definitely better than a 24k comparable car. Especially when you consider the gas savings and performance. I buy a new car every year and a half, I'm not new to this. BTW if you want the best resale value in a car go buy a Dodge Charger or Challenger with the 6.4L. I traded both of my two previous 6.4L Dodges for more than I paid for them brand new. Basically a free car.

It should be noted that the Bolt has a limited top speed of 92 miles an hour.
Or a jeep. Buddies are trading 2-3 year old ones for the cost of new Smilie

And technically people are trading in 2018/2019 bolts to carvana/boost for 21-22k, and just spending a grand or so to upgrade to the 2021 for the 10% range increase.

Its nutts out there folks...

I hope you are right, I have my cybertruck reserved and that 7500 credit would take a lot of sting out of it. I reserved the dual and tri motor and I'm up in the air about which to get, if I get the 7500 then I'm going tri for sure.

Cybertruck. LOL cancel that and reserve a Ford Lightning.

It is. I don't really know why people are buying used cars but whatever lol.

Why would someone have paid more for my used Dodges instead of buying the same car new for less? lol

Doesn't make sense

I use navy federal at 2.29% for 72months. You can refinance too if GM makes you take their financing for the incentives. I think my buddy got something stupid like 7.5% from GM. You'd need to have served or be related to someone who has served for a navy federal or usaa account though. I bet you can get 2.5% from regular banks though. Assuming credit is at least in the mid to high 700s

I love reading all the ridiculous dealer stories. I wonder when they will finally figure out that they would sell more cars if buying one wasn't such a PITA.

It would be interesting to see what the P/L is. IOW, they might hoodwink some people into paying more by playing games, but how many people do they turn off *for life* in the process?

Off the top of my head I have 2 dealerships I will never deal with again simply because they tried their gaming bullshit with me. There are plenty of other dealers in driving distance that sell the EXACT same cars without the runaround games and general douchebaggery. the story might be different if they were the only dealer for hundreds of miles or something (they could get away with being assholes).

I bought a used 2018 Pilot about a month ago and got sub-2% with BoA. My usual go-to would be PenFed (in my experience they have generally been the cheapest), but given that I am a Pt customer with BoA I got a rate reduction which made them cheaper.

so yes DO shop around but be aware of those small benefits. 0.25% isn't going to mean much over the life of the loan, but it's something.

I still think price is king and most people have no dealer loyalty regardless. Though I do agree with you. I've had dealers say no to a deal over 500 bucks. I'm like, really?

People always say look at carvana or tesla as "how to sell a car" but like if you walked into a dealer and just paid asking price like you do with tesla or carvana you're gonna have the easiest transaction in history.

It's a game on both sides of the deal. Dumb people who have no options pay more and the rest of us can wait for the deal, no pressure.

Just stop.

Stop pretending that a once in a lifetime thing in Texas (that was a result of silly green ideals anyways) is in anyway close to as bad as California having consistent rolling blackouts as a matter of policy. You're told it has to do with fire prevention but it's also to do with the lack of power generation you have available during period of high heat when people are using air conditioning.

The point REMAINS that unless you support nuclear there is ZERO chance of a functioning all-electric society. And California is further behind than most because you're killing off nuclear.
Wow. Just wow. Once in a lifetime, that happened 10 years previous. Lifetime in TX must be short. And it's not the green policy that caused TX issues. Wind turbines work fine in cold places.

Yes, CA has rolling blackouts because of transmission issues but not because generation. Building nuclear plants isn't going to solve transmission. Distributed grid is a better solution.

The 2 dealers in mind are:
- One that seems high and mighty always telling me they have the best price ("highest volume dealer") and if I find it cheaper "there's something wrong with the car". Yes they've literally said that on 2 different purchases when they were high by $2k+.
- Another that I was dealing with via email and after a few days of back and forth wouldn't give me an itemization - very simple, price of car, trade in, bullshit fees, etc.

I do all my "negotiation" online - there are 10+ dealers for most major makes within an hour's drive, all their cars are made in the same places. Besides considerations about if I had to drive to a dealer for service, it shouldn't make a difference where I buy a car other than price, especially since I bring my own financing most of the time. Even in 2021 you'd be surprised at the $$ spread on a brand new car between dealers. Literally 10% in some cases FOR THE SAME DAMNED CAR.

You got sub 2% for a 72 month loan on a used car? Thats pretty unbelievable especially from a major bank not a credit union, good job I guess.

Navy federal is 1.79% for 36 months, 2.19 for 60 months.

How much do you finance. I never put any money down. The best rate I ever got was 2.01% about 8 years ago on a 2013 Dodge Charger (again for 72 months).

Yea with the internet it is kinda surprising but I guess it's all about the need at the dealer. If they've already made their quota they must not care. I have a couple dealers in Florida that I won't shop at because they screw around but it's not like I wouldn't buy a car from them. Just not worth wasting my time like you said.

People get a grip. 6 out of 65,000 vehicles caught on fire. You have more of a chance of roasting yourself in ICE vehicles.

'17 owner here. Love it. 6 out of 65,000. I'll take my chances.

Yes, the well-hated BoA. 1.97% net (incl discount) for 5 years on ~ $24k; the only down I put was the balance on my trade in which was about $7k IIRC.

It's very hard to compare. there are something like 287MM cars on the road in the US alone, avg age = 12 years, and many VERY old, fixed in various ways (how many EV's are 30 year old cobbled together junkers?)

The Bolt issues are the battery spontaneously catching fire, whereas I'd wager the vast vast majority of ICE fires are from accidents.

Again, difficult to compare EV's, which are very new to the scene, say ~ 10 years or so in earnest. That is, the average ICE on the road is probably as old as the very first Tesla roadster [britannica.com], to put it in perspective.
