When will the Pixel 4a +5g or the 5 go on sale? I'm tired of seeing all these outdated phones going on sale.
Once the 4a +5g is itself outdated is probably when you will see that phone go on sale.

Maybe it's just me, but this sounds like it would be way too much of a nuisance to limit one's self to 30-40% battery before having to think about plugging in again, even if it is for ~20 mins.

This probably works well if you're indoors a lot but it sounds like a hassle to worry about battery health if you're someone who is often outdoors.

Also, it probably only makes sense to do this if you're keeping your devices 4-5 years or more. I've used plenty of phones for 3 years while charging nightly and the batteries were still decent towards the end. Not great, but decent.
Replace the battery with the new one?

Is this considerably better than a Note 9?

The 4a +5g was on sale earlier in the year and could have been had for around $400, and was selling at an average rate of $460 from just about every online vendor. Now it's up to $500-540 depending on the color. In hindsight the $460 price tag was a decent deal.

That's because people don't know battery management. Don't charge over 80% and don't let it drain below 40%. My personal standard is 80% to 50% and usually I charge when at 60%. Only 20 minutes is needed for each charge. My 2016 Pixel XL battery health is 98%.
That is absolutely correct. However with a phone it is not easy to do. I have an 11 year old lenovo laptop that has this feature. Battery stays at 60%. It still runs ok on battery at least 45 mins when i checked a few months ago. All other ones where battery remain at 100% die instantly if not hooked up after 3 or 4 years.

No. Note 9 is a much better phone. Pixel has a better photo camera but Note 9 takes better videos. Display on note 9 is much superior to pixel.

Not worth it. The phone will stop receiving updates this December. Not even security updates will be issued after December.
According to google it's actually October... Wow just 3 years? Starting to really appreciate apple....

Even for a 3 year old phone, you won't be able to find a better brand new phone at the $200 price point.
It's about waiting for the right sale -- Samsung A71 for $69 with an old phone trade-in, plus a wireless battery pack included.

Better deals are possible.

I've this phone (broken screen, poor battery life) and looking for a newer one until pixel 6 comes out. What's a better choice, this or a pixel 4a. Visible has a $150 rebate with signin ( ofcourse not comparable in general but option in my case) so it comes to less than $180 for me, similar price.

It helps for being a desk jockey. And I've no problem to keep the battery between 80% to 50%. They call it "attention to details". My point is the battery is not going to die in 3 years like people make it out to be, if you keep the proper maintenance. The same with cars. No, much less hassle than cars.

A71 is not a better phone. Pixel 3 was a flagship phone from Google when it was released. Don't compare low tier phones with flagship models thinking you are getting a better deal.
