So guys, any advice here would be much appreciated. I purchased the EVOO Gaming Laptop: Ryzen 7 4800H, 15.6" 120Hz, 16GB RAM DDR 4, 512GB SSD, RTX 2060 from Walmart about 2 weeks ago. I can still return it if needed. I paid $1064.61 out the door (includes a 3-yr protection plan from Allstate)
I do not game but I do run multiple tasks at the same time like having excel documents up, multiple internet tabs, etc for work. I do intend to edit video content and do sometimes like to stream movies etc on my laptop. Is the better video card in the acer worth what I'll be using it for?
So would the EVOO be the better option with the Ryzen 7 or the Acer Nitro. I don't mind the light price bump even though my Evoo has a 3-yr protection plan included with that price. Thank you for your advice guys, i'm not tech savy.
Probably not, the the Walmart EVO laptops are more or less the same as my gateway creator series I bought last year for $699 made by Tong Fang and the RTX2060 is a full 115watt powered unit so it's plenty powerful, I don't think the 3060 would be that much a upgrade if at all especially if it's the gimped ones with 85~watts ones I've seen. The screen isn't the greatest but hardware is plenty powerful for pretty much anything.
Hey guys I just got this deal and laptop came, pretty pleased. I am having trouble with msi afterburner, if i try to increase or decrease core or memory clock, it lets me move it but when i click the apply button, everything goes back to the original settings, therefore i cannot overclock or underclock. Is this normal for this laptop? Its not grayed out or anything its just resets everytime i click apply

Hey i figured it out, u have to go to settings and change it to the second graphics card 3060
From what I've read[notebookcheck.net], the 3060 in this Acer laptop is either 85 or 95W (apparently was 85W but newer firmware takes it up to 95W) compared to the 115W in the Dell G15 gaming laptop. Does anyone know if I can overclock the GPU in this Acer to get it closer to the 115W? Do I need to worry about the cooler at that point and can the cooler even be changed? Just not sure what are the fundamental limits for overclocking the GPU in a laptop form factor, although I know it must be more restrictive than a desktop. Thanks.
I chatted with Acer support: This system actually comes with 1 stick of 16GB ram, and not 2 x 8GB. Though it does have an empty RAM slot for upgrading. This could be a deal breaker for some :/
I have one, the acer support was wrong. It's 2x8 gb ram, i have a review on YouTube if you search for my name. However it's unfortunately only available from Newegg now so no more student discount.

Much better display on the Nitro (brightness and color gamut) might offer some big leaps in that.
Ok got it, thank you for the advice.
Yes, the spreadsheets I use are gnarly. I believe the Evoo is at 250 nits.
When they get to $699 refurb then buy...
