YMMV…

Been in the market for Xfinity for a few months now and have been stalking their site and other deal sites. This offer appears to be the same one that's been available for a while now. The prepaid visa option is a nice way to offset the installation, but the deals that include the card are pricier Vs the ones that don't offer the card, at least as far as my bundled needs are concerned.

Need to be mindful of the offer 'term' and all the extra taxes and fees, which run upwards of $35/month depending…

For some of us, they're the only game in town unfortunately. So as the old Irish proverb goes: "It's difficult to choose between 2 blind goats".

This is a different one. I signed up under the Gig plan one week ago without the gift card and had to cancel it (still within 30 days to avoid early termination fee) and re-sign up with this plan to get the gift card.
At least here in San Jose, CA, I am saving $20 per month (I have been with them like forever, used to pay $95 per month), terminated my plan, and signed up as a "new" customer under the same name.

Heads up for everyone in Fort Myers, FL it's $20 for 50Mbps, $40 for 100, $50 for 200 or 400, $60 for 800, and $70 for 1200Mbps. 400Mbps & up "unlocks" $10 off Xfinity Mobile account, but none have the free gateway/unlimited, and that's only for the first 12 months, which is the contract length. After that, it goes up by $26 or $36 depending on the plan.

Some say prices valid until 6/7/2021, some 6/22/2021, and at least the 100Mbps doesn't have an end date showing right now.

Gigabit plan until you hit the 1TB cap. We had to switch to Verizon because with 4 of us in the house, and everyone watching different stuff via streaming, the 1TB just wasn't enough. Until the cap, it was good service, but the cap made us jump ship.

Any current customers cancel to be eligible for such offers? How long do you need to be a non-customer to be eligible as a new customer?

I canceled and requested to disconnect the service immediately. 10 minutes later, I became a new customer.

Maybe you case fell through the crake. Generally, you need 60 days waiting period to be considered as new customer.

Even getting past the machine is a pain. It will do everything it can to keep you from speaking to a person.

Had this same issue. If you have a confirmed outage they will literally prevent you from talking to a live person until your service is back online. At that point why do I need to talk to anyone?

Use their modem for a year for free, then pay the monthly rental? No thanks. I own my own gigabit modem and have a mesh wifi. Saves you a lot of money in the long term.

Any plan of 400Mbps or more with the xFi is truly unlimited. There is no cap with the xFi modem.

And the cap on other plans is 1.2TB (it was increased nearly a year ago).

Using their modem means you get no data cap. Additionally, modems do get fried (often in some areas) and need to be upgraded. In the end I think it works out to be a wash. You'd have to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem a couple years ago and now a 3.1 for the top speed tiers.

You may be saving $120 a year by having your own modem and wireless but then having to upgrade modems every 2-3 years and having a data cap, plus having to get a new wireless router for things like WiFi 6, etc? Not sure it's really a better deal in the end. Might be if you don't need top speed wireless, don't need +400Mbps connection, or don't download a ton.

I don't see why you can't return the modem after the first year. You have to do a one or two year contract for the discounted plan rate, but I don't think the monthly modem fee is included in that.

Another thing to consider is that Comcast puts a 1.2TB monthly data cap on third party gear, but there is no data cap with the Xfinity modem. 1.2TB may be enough for most households, but if you're streaming 4K, downloading games, and working from home with teleconference calls all day, it might be worth it to pay for their modem to avoid overage fees.

Basically Comcast sucks, but if it's your only option, paying for their gear may be worth it.
