I believe Makita has a new model in the works. Regardless this is a great impact driver for DIY or anyone not intending to give it tons of abuse.
And as an FYI Home Depot has the hit for this driver with 2.0ah battery, fast charger and bag on clearance for $80
The clearance kit deal must be YMMV and specific to store. I can find this kit deal anywhere and the HD website shows $159 for the kit (tool, battery, charger, bag).
Fantastic deal on my very favorite tool in the LXT line. Used one of these that belonged to a friend when we were rebuilding our back deck and had to have one of my own, and that's how I got hooked on LXT. Definitely a "gateway drug" into the LXT ecosystem. Can't justify it based on need, but I may still buy another of these just because. TU!!

It's in store only like 90% of posted HD clearance deals

I am so tempted to get this. I have the XDT14Z impact driver and love it. I don't consider it heavy at all.
However, I always hear how much lighter these are (with smaller batteries) and that they become the go-to for many.
Decision, decisions...
You always have the option to run your XDT14Z with 2AH batteries. They are quite a bit lighter than the standard 5AH batteries. I say "standard" because I have a metric crap ton of them.

The other things I found looking up the two drivers:
The XDT14 has almost 3/4" shorter length than the subcompact.
The XDT14 is only about 3 ounces heavier. I will be using either 4 or 5Ah batteries anyways, so I don't see advantage at this point.
I can also look at it that I just saved myself about $50.
